    Hi all,

I've been reading this forum for a few months now, and have some concerns about my choice of plasma before I buy..

I have about 3.5K to spend, and thought the Panny 42 5 series was the way to go, but some owners have mentioned flicker. I can't live with flicker, as I'm quite sensitive to it.

Is it very noticble on the Panny 42 5 series?

I must say I didn't notice it when I demo' it in the showroom. But the source material may not have shown it.

Would I be better off with the pioneer 433 MXE?

What about Fan or Buzzing noise, do either of these models suffer from noise. I'm sure that would drive me nuts! I've sensative hearing too.. :)

    Thanks again..

If you want a 'silent' display the Pioneer MXE is the one for you - every Panasonic unit I have ever supplied has produced some noise; albeit some are far quieter that others but its impossible to guarantee you will get a quiet one or one that will stay quiet.

    Best regards

    Joe

    Thanks for the info Joe..

Can I pick your brains again?

Is the 433 MXE flicker free too?

I like the black levels on the Panny, but would like a flicker free display.

If I opted for the 433 MXE, how would it handle NTSC DVD material? I was going to plumb for the Panny cos it suited the native resolution of NTSC media. Would the Pio give an equally impressive picture even though it'll have to do some scaling?

I'm in this quandry because most of my DVD's are region 1.

I haven't had a chance to demo the pio so I'm a bit in the dark..

    Thanks,

    wisgb
