Well what exactly is the make and model of the tv?

If it is,say, a standard sony wega CRT then normal glass cleaner/or mr sheen for example should be ok to do it. Spray on to a cloth, then wipe. If it is a flat screen rear projection tv or a flat panel display like a plasma or lcd then you must be more careful and use a more delicate approach. Some screens come with anti reflective coatings and some with a plastic front that can easily be scratched.
Some people use micro fiber cloths and a bit of filtered distilled water to remove dust and finger marks.

Like I said , what is the make and model?
