Hi all, just found this interesting site in the hope i can find help from some kind person.

New to all this digital camera stuff, but bought the Nikon Coolpix 4300 yesterday. Love it already, but why is it that when i take a pic with the flash, it seems to capture the pic when the flash has gone off and the person is blinking from the bright flash!! I hope that was explained clearly, and although the manual is informative, im unsure where i am going wrong. AS i say, its all new and i wanna make sure the money i have forked out has been well spent and not summin thats... broke!!

    Hope anyone can help. :)

    Thanks.

Look in the manual for a red eye reduction feature.

This does a preflash making the person blink just before the main flash so that their eyes are open for the big flash. It also makes the pupils dilate to reduce red eye
