Flash Gordon DTS - any plans?

With the brilliant Queen score, it seems criminal that there hasent been a DTS remix of this film yet, Closest looks like the French 5.1 (Studio Canal) version. But the downside to that is the unremovable subtitles.

So, are there any plans for an english DTS version?.

the french disc has a great english 5.1 soundtrack and remastered pic(+commentary and the queen cd) but it does have player generated french subs that appear automatically if u select english 5.1, though my pc can remove the subs and my nintaus dvd palyer can take them off too the toshiba has no option to remove them
really is a great disc and apparently due to anti bush comments they wont release the commentary in the states!

I think the first half is a little shaky - like many modern films, it can't make up its mind how seriously to take itself. But in the second half it finally plucks up the courage to become unambiguously an over-the-top comedy, and is great fun.

Flash and Dale are awful, of course, but some very fine actors in the supporting cast hamming it up for all they're worth - fabulous. :)

"Tell me more about this man Houdini."

Btw, I was amused to see a much older Sam Jones (Flash) show up as a tough bounty hunter in an episode of Stargate SG-1. I wasn't watching the screen when his name came up in the opening credits, and it took a while to figure out who he was! (He wasn't nearly as awful as you might think - made me wonder why they dubbed him in "Flash Gordon").

The french version looks quite a good package, again a french version comes up trumps i am just glad that my pio dvd player can remove the subs.

The commentary track also sounds quite interesting with a dig at bush.

:)

They need to print that as a warning on the DVD cover! Unfortunately we started watching it from the beginning of the first half and somewhere around the 20th minute my wife said that this was the worst movie she's ever seen in her life and I couldn't find any argument against her. If only I'd known it gets better in the second half... ;)

Ornella Muti was her name. If you like her so much you'll be pleased to know that she did lots of high-class European and some American art (filth) movies.

One in particular stands out. The name escapes me, but it starred the ever wonderful Ben Gazzara as some sort of boozy author/poet type. Ornela and he indulged in lots of "back door" action, and for reasons which escape me she fastened her lips (you know, LIPS ;) ) together with a big safety pin. Wince!

I'll have to search for the title - it's bugging me now.

Later that same evening...

"Tales of Ordinary Madness" (1981)
