    Hello all,

I have a 28" CRT Toshiba TV and tend to get flaring reds when watching Telewest on it. I have my picture settings with contrast at 75 and colour and brightness at 50 each. Would tweaking those settings help the problem as I can't seem to get rid of it?

    Hi

How old is your TV? Has it done many hours at high brightness?

Flaring is often a sign of a low emmission tube. It can also sometimes be caused by having the G2 voltage set incorrectly on the TV.

You don't say how old your set is but flaring of any particular colour generally suggests the crt is on its way out.
Turning down the contrast can help.

It's only a couple of years old. It's a Toshiba 28ZD26 and is a superb television apart from the flaring of reds and sometimes I get a white line down the left hand side of the screen.

Do I have the picture settings about right or are some of them too high?

    Thanks
