Fitting a Panasonic 42PWD7 with TY-ST42PX20 stand?

I recently bought a 42PWD7 and was given a TY-ST42PX20 stand, which doesn't seem to be the standard table stand (it's used more for the Viera models I understand).

It does fit, although I find the screen slants forward slightly, which worries me a little. Also, the long screws do not fit well on the back of the plasma, ie they don't seem to be necessary (hold nothing), except if I lift the screen a little and insert one screw up to a point (not all the way, 2cm sticking out). The bottom screw does not "screw" anything on the screen, it's just there under the frame.

Also, after my "plasma" honeymoon (truly great PQ) I'm starting to find that the esthetics of the stand are not so great because the inside bar shows a bit (the one with several holes, which is hidden with the Viera). The foot shows a lot too...

Has anyone been sold this screen with a PWD7? any "slant" noticed? Should I ask for another stand and can I claim I was sold the wrong one?

    Thanks, great board!

Well I called the shop who sold it to me, they agree it's not really the right stand for the PW7 (you can apparently correct the tilt with the screws, but not really in fact!) So I'll get the standard stand...

    Hi fntms,

Do you happen to know the part number of the correct stand as I am just about to invest in a 42PWD7 and would rather avoid the difficulties that you have encountered.

I seem to be finding images of the TH-42PWD7 with two different stands...

The first one can be found here and the second one here

And what seems to be a third stand offered with the TH-42PWD7 from AV Sales.

    Many thanks.

    Hi hornydragon,

Sorry but I think I was editing my first post when you replied! :D

I was more refering to the stands supplied by Panasonic to go with the PWD7 as lots of retailers are now including the stand for free and I wanted to make sure that I got the latest genuine Panny stand.

    thanks for the info HD,

Are you sure that these more modern stands come as standard with the PWD7 with it not being the most up to date of screens?

On that note is the PWD7 still in production as I can't seem to find it on the Panny website! :(

Any pics of the PWD7 on the newer stands would be much appreciated. :smashin:

HD you are the god of info!! ;)

So am I right in thinking that you should get a choice of the more current stands when purchasing a PWD7 from reputable retailers such as AV Sales?

Do you know if Panny have a website for business products that may contain pics of the PWD7 with current stand/s?

as far as i know the choice of pedestal stands from panny isnt great...........2 consumer and a very industrial business units. but if you really want the "official" stand I am sure AV-sales will offer you a list of compatible units.

It seems there are are few deals on the TYST42PA20 stand on eBay (click here) but as I am about to purchase a panny screen I will try to make sure one is included.

Does anyone know if the TYST42PA20 stand comes in black as it will be the black PWD7 that I am opting for.

I have a black Panny and it matches the silver stand perfect as it's also black in the middle, i was hesitating at first if it would look nice but i was wrong, it looks great.

You have to see it in reality but it looks much nicer than a silver Panny on it.

    Many thanks Likvid.

I found the following pic of a silver panny on your stand (stevegant's) but it would be much better to see it used with a black screen so that I can make an informed decision. :smashin:

Many thanks for the pics Likvid that helps a great deal.

I think the stand and black screen look good together so I may well go for that combination now.

P.S. Is that a DSP-A1 amp I see lurking in your cabinet?

No it's the Yamaha RX-V2095RDS, it's the same as the A2 but with a tuner integrated.

The TY-ST42PX20 stand is for the 37&42p30 (the one with the bendy bottom), the problem is that the bottom of the uprights (on the stand)have a bulge that locates is the bottom of the p30, but a PW6/7 sits on top of the bulge and tends to lean forward as you have discovered, i have tried the uprights off the TYST42PA20 but the hole spacings are wrong so the only way to fit the PX20 stand to a PW6/7 is to carefully dremell the bulges off the uprights so that they are not in the way!
