Fitting A Large Screen With No Bracket???

I'm planning on building a stud wall diagonally across the corner of my living room with the bottom cut out to house all my equipment in a chimney breast fashion.
This I see is going to give me a big advantage over a lot of other peoples wall mount builds where I can get in (well squeeze) behind the wall the screen is going to be mounted to to fit and run cables.
What I'm wondering is could I get away with a: the expense of and b: the extra depth a wall mounting bracket is going to give me by bolting straight through say an 18mm thick wall into the back of the screen and perhaps a metal plate under the bolt heads behind the wall to spread the footing of the bolt head.
Obviously bolts need to be correct length as not to damage any internals :nono:

I'm not really trying to cut corners but 18mm MDF is tough ol stuff.
