Im looking to invest in a 5:1 system, preferably not an all in one, I have about £500 to spend. You will have to forgive my ignorance, Im completely new to this and all I have at the minute is a 32 inch phillips flat screen and a phillips DVDr610. So any advice would be appreciated.

well your gonna need a receiver and speakers but if you want it to be decent you may need to spend more than £500, you could look at the Mission M70 speker package http://www.homecinemachoice.com/reviews/hccreviews/SpeakerPackages/Mission/MissionM70.php

and pair this with this sony receiver http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi-bin/displayreview.php?reviewid=5450

add cost of cables and your looking at £650 probably less if you bought online, the links above will allow you to search for lots of ideas. Remember if you buy too cheaply at first you'll only end up upgrading quicker and spending more in the long run, as i'm sure many will testify to.... :smashin:
