    That's great news :) It's a shame the pioneer of the technology is now bankrupt: http://www.candescent.com/ It really will offer amazing pictures though... think CRT-like images at HDTV resolution with no geometric distortion or power regulation issues.

    nice, by the time i have saved enough for my 42" plasma SED is going to make my buying choice even harder , unless the SED is less than 3G's :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    It's all happening with 1080p this month, isn't it? Where did that £10k come from? I recall reading that Canon/Toshiba said SEDs would come in at around the same price as PDPs, which £10k isn't. Perhaps it will be worth it, and they will sell them all, but I thought it would be a fraction of that. There will be a lot of good competition.

    The first models to go on sale next year will be 50" with 1920x1080 resolution and they will be expensive, roughly the same as early plasmas.
    Mass production will only start in 2007, at which point prices should drop to plasma/LCD level, and by 2010 Toshiba wants to dominate the flat-panel market above 42" (they won't license the technology to anyone else).
