First new PC since 2013

Hi all,

My current PC is on its last legs, with an error stopping it from booting into windows. I am still trying to find the specific problem. However I am also realistic enough to think this might be it for my current build.

So, I am looking to put together a new build, I won't need a keyboard, mouse and i think I am going to keep my current monitor (HP2475w) and graphics card (970) and look to upgrade those in the summer, when I can save up a bit. But everything thing else is up for grabs.

This is what I am thinking;

Case - NZXT H500 / H500i - any others to consider?
CPU CORE - I9-9900K 3.6GHZ (COFFEE LAKE) - I have gone large, but should I consider i5 - 8400 as an alternative, any thoughts?
CPU cooler - NZXT Kraken x62 or COOLER MASTER ML240L RGB AIO CPU COOLER - 240MM - will the ML do the job?
Power supply - EVGA SUPERNOVA G3 850W 80 PLUS GOLD MODULAR POWER SUPPLY
Ram - G.Skill TridentZ RGB 2x8GB DDR4-3200
Mobo - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra
Hard Drive - Samsung 970 Pro 1TB
OS - Win 10 pro

This is about £1500, although if I did downgrade the CPU that would drop the price quite a bit. I am probably not going to o/c this build. Long term I would like a 4k monitor (32inch) and graphics card.

Happy for any opinions. Cheers

It depends what you use it for e.g. gaming requires more powerful hardware than browsing the internet.

All looks good to me. You might want to spec a slightly larger AIO, a 320mm, if you can fit it in your case.

CPU is probably good for a 5Ghz overclock but the 9900K is toasty at those clocks.

The GPU is what’s going to cost you if you’re after a decent 4K card and want all the settings turned to 11.

Thanks for the replies.

I have got up this morning and fiddled around with the build and after some advice its looking like this;

Case - be quiet! Dark Base 700 RGB Midi Tower Case
CPU - Intel Core i7-9700K 3.6GHz (Coffee Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - OEM
Cooler - Corsair Hydro Series H115i PRO RGB Performance Liquid Cooler - 280mm (CW-9060032-WW)
PSU - Corsair RMx 750w 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply (CP-9020179-UK)
Ram - Gigabyte Aorus RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit
Mobo - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra Intel Z390 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
HDD - Samsung 970 PRO Polaris 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive
OS - Win 10 home USB stick

Save yourself a £110 and get the Samsung 970 Evo you'll never notice the difference between it and the Pro. You can put the saving towards your new GPU.
