In what is probably an indication of how tight they have things down, as much as anything, it’s emerged that the first known instance of malware, in an iOS App, has been uncovered by Kaspersky on Apples App Store.

That app was in theRussian language and named 'Find and Call'. It would appear it took details of the users address book and GPS details and then upload them to a remote server, who’s location has yet to be named. Predictably the contact details were then used to spam email accounts promoting the app, with it appearing to come from someone the unfortunate recipient knows. The developer of the app claims it to be a bug that is being worked on.Hmm..

"The Find and Call app has been removed from the App Store due to its unauthorised use of users' address book data, a violation of App Store guidelines," an Apple spokesperson confirmed.

The same app is also no longer available on the Android equivalent, Google Play marketplace.
