VCR just died. Was going to buy another when friend suggested replacing it with DVD recorder. I have sky digital and want to record TV programmes. I may want to save the odd recording for posterity but most of the time will record over the programme when I have watched it. Am really confused with all the DVD formats and compatability. Having made my recordings, I would like the option of viewing them on the 2 other DVD players in the house. The first a Toshiba SD-200E, states in the manual that it cannot play DVD-RAM, -RW etc. The second, a Pioneer XV-DV313 states that it will play DVD-RW discs recorded using VR format and will also play DVD-R/RW recorded using DVD-video format that have been finalised. I have been investigating the Panasonic E55 and Samsung DVDR-100. Am I asking too much or barking up the wrong tree? It really should be simpler. Am I missing something?
