Hisense 50U7A is a good option at this price point.

You’ll have to really look for the Sony as I believe it’s last years model now. The new one is the XF7 range now.

I’m close to taking the plunge on the U7A. Still a few other options to look at. But having seen the U7A in the flesh it’s a nice looking tv with decent picture.

I've found the Sony on ebay for £549, is it worth going for at that price if in stock?

I'll have to check out that U7A, never really looked at the Hisense TV's because of the brand name but seen a few of them mentioned now.

I’m not sure. I’ve seen a review here and said it’s a decent tv. https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/sony-xe70

My son has a 32” standard hisense tv. It’s Okay for what we paid and his need (150 notes) which is leaning me to get the U7A myself.

You'll want a TV with a wide colour gamut, neither of those has one. Go for one of the 50" models instead, or more ideally 55" where there is better bang for buck.

They are listed in the guide here: My best value TVs, 2017 Edition

This assumes you don't need wide viewing angles, if you you'll want a TV with an IPS panel instead.

TV is mainly for gaming, with PS4? If so, check also input lag before you buy.
The lower the better. Best TVs are 15 - 25ms in game mode.
