Going to cost you a packet this is. Didn't know they had lossless sound mind you.

Imagine how much the complete blu set in a box will set you back????

:smashin:

Seems promising then:thumbsup:

Never heard of the reviewer though. I guess many more reviews will be up soon to confirm.

Don't realy care for Connery (as Bond) so I hop Live and Let Die is just as impressive.

The reviewer is the gaffer(ess)on What Hi-Fi magazine, might not be the greatest av mag in the land, but the reviews do look promising.

I said i would never re-buy these as i had them on VHS and now DVD but if the transfers are anywhere near as good as Close Encounters is then i MAY be tempted.

Any indication if these are liekly to be region coded? If they're region free then i can quickly see deals these

MGM logo on the box,and MGM are owned by Sony(i think),then they'll be locked.:thumbsdow

Looking on HMV and Play.com they're £75-£80 for the 6 films. I'd like them in HD but not for that much :thumbsdow

Only works out at about £12.00 per film which is a lot cheaper than I paid for the dvds when they first came out which I think was £19.99 each:eek:

We are reviewing them as soon as they turn up, folks!

I'm gonna get them all, but out of the first wave, I'm covering Thunderball, From Russia With love and For Your Eyes Only. :smashin:

I have high hopes for the transfers ... so, fingers crossed, eh?

Cheers,

Chris McEneany

Thanks Chris! Your normal indepth and amusing (for all the right reasons) reviews are always appreciated! Especially for Mr Bond. Cheers buddy. :smashin:

Isn't MGMs back catalogue owned by Fox? Certainly Battle Of Britain and so forth are distributed by Fox. If so they will almost certainly be region locked.

TBH, Cant see region coding being a major issue. The 2 US sets are released at the same time and should work out about the same as the cost of the UK (£35 each from Tower.com who have so far been customs safe). :)

Its very tempting to update to blueray but i've already brought them on VHS and on DVD, so i'll probably wait till they do a blueray boxset sometime in 2012. They'll probably have superHD by then.

I have the 3 Connery films & LALD on pre-order at Play (£14.99 each) and I can't wait to get my hands on them. Just over 2 weeks to go....

Yes. MGM titles are distributed by Fox in the UK and USA. Sony only the rights to the new James BOnd titles from Casino Royale only. WHen Sony acquired a stake in MGM, they took over distribution but after a few months, MGM then gave the contract to Fox.

Sony and MGM when working on movies together may split distribution rights for Domestic and International.

The James Bond 007 BLuRay collection in US and UK are Fox titles. I've noticed as of late, FOX UK have been dual coding a few titles for Region B and A. What I;ve noticed so far is

Meet the Spartans
Stargate Consortium
28 Days Later

Anybody got any close ups of the packaging?

Movietyme have tested these, and they're region coded :thumbsdow

Yea, but keep panning down on their blog, and ZOMBIE STRIPPERS is region free!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Have all the ultimate editions on DVD but going to give Thunderball a try on Blu Ray initially to see how it goes. I doubt we'll get much better than the ultimate editions on DVD certainly in the audio department on the older films but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm very much hoping there won't be much improvement over the Ultimate Editions. Having spent a bloody fortune buying the attache case, I really don't want to be buying them again for the umpteenth time and I know I won't be able to resist doing so if they are a decent improvement over UE, sucker that I am :)
