firewire/usb2 help

    hi all
    i have a panasonic nv-ex3b and want to transfer the films on to dvd thro my pc i have just got pinnacle studio 8 but my computer dosent have firewire how do i connect it up to my computer without firewire hopefully somebody can help me out

    PCI Firewire cards are only £20 or so quid.

    Well, that's a firewire card. Switch your PC off.

    Open up the PC, slot it in. Fire it back up. Windows should find the new device, maybe Windows has drivers included. If it needs drivers, update from internet.

    Then get a firewire cable (two types, 6 pin- which is the bigger one in the pic, and smaller 4 pin)

    Switch the DV camcorder on.

    That's the only experience I have with things, I've never used a DV camcorder...sure DV owners can help you

    The firewire card will almost certainly be supplied with a 6pin > 4pin firewire cable.
    The 6pin end goes into the card and the 4pin into your camcorder.

    To add a firewire card your PC will need to be running at least Windows98SE. Earlier Windows versions do not support firewire.
    You will also need lots of spare disk space. 4 minutes of captured video will take 1Gb of disk space :eek: and you will need spare space for editing.
