I've just received the R4 boxed set and it has the episodes in a different order from the R2.
"Serenity parts 1 & 2" are listed first with "The Train Job" third etc.
I read somewhere that the original order the episodes were shown on TV were "wrong", has the R4 one put it right?

And has there been any announcement about the movie's dvd release date?

I've only seen the odd snippet of Firefly on Sci Fi, but the unanimously positive reviews of Serenity have made me want to watch the whole series and then the movie, in that order!

Serenity was the unshown pilot (at the time) so being first on the DVD is correct with The Train Job being the third ep, sounds like the R4 is the same as my R1, never seen the R2, will have to check it's running order just for curiosities sake:)

Not seen any DVD details yet.

Here's the order they should run in. Sounds like your boxset is correct.

    Serenity (parts 1 & 2)
    The Train Job
    Bushwacked
    Shindig
    Safe
    Our Mrs Reynolds
    Jaynestown
    Out of Gas
    Ariel
    War Stories
    Trash
    The Message
    Heart of Gold
    Objects in Space

    Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Thanks, looking forward to watching these. Had a quick panic when the packaging failed to refer to 16:9, but thankfully it is! No 5.1, but "Dolby Surround", I presume that is ProLogic II?

    No, it's Dolby Surround. :D

"Dolby Surround" is a term that describes the way the sound-track on the disc is encoded - it's just 2 channels, with information about the rear channel(s) matrixed into the main 2. "Dolby Pro-Logic" or "Dolby ProLogic II" and "Dolby ProLogic IIx" are different algorithms that can be applied to a stereo signal to extract more than two channels worth of information from it. Both tend to work better on something that has been deliberately encoded using Dolby Surround.

Dolby PLII generally does a better job of extracting 5 channels than the original Pro Logic system did.

It is possible to tweak a Dolby Surround recording in ways that assume you will be using Dolby PLII to decode it, but the resulting difference isn't usually that great.
