Hi I have an HP pro book which has the optional finger print sign in capability, I've never used it but when I did try it said " fingerprint not recognized" I cant find any thing in the owners manual how to reset it, I've googled it but none of the vids relate to windows 7. The HP forum says I need to ring their techs, ha at a premium rate no doubt, any advise would be welcome cheers

Your description isn't very clear. Are you trying to log into a locked laptop after you've been through the setup process or is the setup process itself not allowing you to register your fingerprint?

as i said "I've never used it" so I'm not sure whats going on, its a refurbished machine that I have had for about 9 months, I dont recall trying to set it up as I cant see anything that would explain the process, but in the event " A " fingerprint has been set up at some time how do I reset it it and start again ?????

Do you have a biometric devices section in the control panel?

If not I'd go to the HP support page for your laptop and there should be software for the fingerprint reader there.
