Although the official R1 release date for Finding Nemo is 4th Nov, I see that Movietyme have a possible ship date of around 21st Oct!:)

Don't think I need to take the kids to the cinema now!;)

well I will still go and see it today.

My R1 is already on order but movietyme also had some scrolling bar the last few days saying that nemo would ship very soon.

    Hi,

How much do movietyme charge for shipping to UK?. Nemo is £16.99.

So I might wait for a company who ship for free like loaded247 or play or cdwow.

I will be getting the DVD as I think everything Pixar have done is excellent.

I'll also be going to see it tonight.

Ive read on the AVS american forum sites that the picture quality is disappointing on this film because Disney have put 2 versions pan and scan and widescreen on same side, don't know if its true but early american viewings have suggested it is.

Dunno, but I'm prepared to wait a month if I'm saving £7. Times that per film, plus £10 extra for Indy Jones boxset, and you're talking extra hundreds/thousand(s) pounds for your DVD collection (if bought from cheapest/most expensive) suppliers.

    Apart from Monsters Inc! :thumbsdow

More of a 3D graphics demo on rendering hair/fur than anything else.

Using CD-WOW's various money off links I pre-ordered Finding Nemo R1 for a mere £12.50 delivered. Didn't think that was too bad myself.

Here is a link to the thread. It contains further links to some pictures. There some bad mpeg artifacts. Hopefully the version they have seen is not the proper retail version.

*EDIT I wasn't thinking when i quoted the sizes, but my point is the same*

The pirated version would have been recompressed from an 9gb dual layer disc to a 4.7gb single layer disc so it can be copied, you would expect the quality not to be upto the standard of the release version.

The copy I saw* was on a 4.7gig single layer disc and the picture quality wasn't up to much, artifacting and edge-enhancement all over the shop. Hopefully the soundtrack will be as good

    * I don't promote piracy in any way, just got impatient waiting for DVDSoon to ship my copy

18GB dual layered disc eh? this I would love to see ;)

Theres a couple of pirate versions floating around. One is a DVD which has been encoded from an XVid version and suffers from mentioned artifacts, as the lower bitrate just cannot cope with the extensive water effects. The other version is a 1 for 1 copy of the DVD stream with most extras removed to fit onto one DVD-R. This version is perfect, with an absolutely pristine transfer.

As above, I dont condone this in any way, but just had the chance to borrow it off a m8. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the picture quality from what I've seen.

    Got this today. Thanks Movietyme.

Went to see this at the cinema and it looked a bit washed out, and was expecting the dvd to be not so good.

    But

WOW. The picture quality is outstanding. I enjoyed the film so much more on a second viewing.

The DVD also comes with one of the best extras on disc 2. A screensaver of the tank in the dentists room, complete with animated characters from the film.

it is indeed. but somehow the version in the cinema and DVD has been edited compared to the original version:

I could now link tot hat german site but you have to register and I doubt any of you are registered on a german dvdforum. suffice to say: the breastsize of the "barby" has been significantly reduced.

Just watched this film last night and found it very entertaining and very funny. As usual the graphics were second to none. The sound which is THX, is possibly one of the best films in 5.1 I have heard, it actually sounds like your whole living room is underwater. :D

    Haha ( Sea - washed out )

Actually, the DLP version I saw at Odeon Leicester square was very soft, so was Star Wars. Did you see it in DLP?

Don't think it was DLP. It was on at the Warner cinema in Portsmouth, which I don't think has the facility.
