purchased the haunting r2 some time ago, got round to playing it at long last, film took ages to get going, story poor but sound effects brilliant, even my little pdr8 was rumbling away like a thunderstorm,

Heh heh, the dirst R1 DVD I ordered was the signature edition of The Haunting. The shop I bought my Speakers and Amp from used it as a demo disk, and I was rather impressed by it :) As you say, weakish plot, dull to begin, but otherwise a superb effects film. I quite often use it to 'introduce' friends to my setup.

It's one of the most enjoyable fright films that has been made recently. I know it is prety lame really, but it really did give me the willies! and that was the ntsc VHS! I will hope to get my hands on the dtses dvd sometime! ;)

You won't be sorry if you get the dts version - very aggressive
surround mix and the bass throughout is simply amazing!
Truly one of the best dts sound demo discs around.
