Finally going High Def - now how do I show off my kit?

OK, I've got the 360, the VGA lead, the Vista laptop (including media center) connected to the xbox for streaming video...

and now after hours of research and deliberation, I've just ordered the final piece of the puzzle - a nice new 32" LCD HDTV. This will be my first LCD, and is relacing a trusty but old 26" CRT.

I am taking delivery on saturday, so before I do so I want to use the waiting period to gather up some good HD material in order to show off my new screen and ensure that the TV's setting are to my taste (also, my girlfriend can't yet understand why I decided to splash out on a TV "when you already have a perfectly good one" so I need some High Def clips that even she will be able to see aren't standard def).

Essentially,

1. which 360 games look best when going from SD to HD?
2. does anyone have any favourite HD pictures or video clips they can link to for me to download and stream?
3. which video clips on the Xbox Live Marketplace look best in HD?

Any other help/advice/suggestions would be gratefully received!

1. ALL OF THEM! Gears of War is amazing in HD, Rainbow Six Vegas, Viva Pinata and BioShock! You gotta get BioShock this friday, its unbelievable in HD.

2. Sky HD's website has a few showcase pieces that look great. The best HD footage I've seen is by downloading HD-WMV or HD Quicktimes (sharing .mov through zune software). www.gametrailers.com has HD version of nearly everything that goes on the site, you can find some amazing stuff there.

3.The Halo 3 '1st Commercial' Trailer with the kids staring at the stars is great in HD, Gears of War "Mad World" trailer is great too. The GTA trailers are cool, Army of Two looks REALLY HD, nice and sharp. Most trailers look awesome.

The best 'HD' thing I've seen on my 360 is the intro sequence to Casino Royale, I got a HD WMV rip off newsgroups, 8 GB's and burned it to a Dual Layer disc, it played fine in 360 and looks bloody amazing. I've also got EVERY Star Wars movie in HD on dual layer burnt disks. The chase sequence at the begining of Attack of the Clones is fantastic. Now I have my HDTV, I can't wait for the new seasons to begin in September in USA, HD-TV Rips galore! :D :D :D

I won't be getting Sky HD yet, but funnily enough I was looking at Planet Earth on HD DVD earlier (I'll get the HD DVD add-on for the 360 closer to christmas and I definitely think I'll get Planet Earth :) )

i went from crappy standard def 40inch to hidef 80 and you can see a massive difference in everything you watch. Makes an enormous difference. A nice one to download is the Aeon flux trailer off the marketplace. It looks nice and the colours are good. Thats what i used to show off my new setup.

there'll be loads of HD stuff to download when the Marketplace is upgraded in the next few weeks. Hopefully we will get the same content as the USA, I had a US account until it was closed, so I'm looking forward to this.

I was actually looking for the HD Ice Age 2 vid on the marketplace last night but I guess it's been removed now. I have the SD version on my 360 that I downloaded months ago - it's a shame I didn't download the HD one at the time because I imagine that looks great at 720p

Just make sure you don't cheap-out on the cable, I used to have a Logic 3 component cable and 1080p was all fuzzy and ghosting. The proper MS cable fixed it.

Yep I always say this. I bought a cheap one too before Christmas, it put me right off VGA. It wasn't untill months later I saw a proper 360 VGA cable in action that I realised it was just my crappy cheap cable making it blurry and ghosting. Bought a real cable and HAZAA! Its excellent, can't go back to the jaggie crapfest that is Component.

I don't think the content will be the same as their will be licensing issues invloved. Plus some of that stuff may not have already been released to normal sources here yet. That's the main reson why they are preventing people outside the US from accessing it right now on the US market place.

Perfect! Thank you both!
those hd dvd clips i linked you are alot better than anything on marketplace if u can find any on marketplace most of them are only on us marketplace but these are better quality than any of them plus there wmv so the xbox plays them no probs.i used to use these to show of tv but if u really wanna get the most out of your set invest in sky hd the football is the best for showing what hd can do.

I was thinking about getting a VGA cable, but the thing is my TV only does 1080p over VGA, NOT 720p. Will everything get scaled up to 1080p, avoiding this problem?

Calibrate your screen's brightness with the Bioshock (demo or full) test image (don't actually move the slider)

Ok, so leave the slider where it is and adjust the TV's brightness until i can read the writing on the wall?
