Strange problem with this. I have a Philips DVDR520H that writes to DVD+R and DVD+RW. Everything works and the +R disks report as finalized BUT they are not viewable on any other machine.

I updated the firmware to 196P3 and we have a whole stack of different brands of media we have tried but so far nothing works.

    Any ideas please

Presumably your +RWs viewable on other machines?

What make and model number are these "other machines"? Some recorders (and older players) will not play +Rs unless the discs have been booktyped to DVD-ROM.

'Other machines' are Denver DVD152, DVD Drive in a Sony Vaio Laptop, LG DVD (GCC 4521B) drive in a PC, Pioneer DVR 108 Drive in another PC.

If none of the discs will play in such a wide range of +R capable players/PC drives, suggests there's something wrong with the finalising.

Try writing a small dummy text file to one of the discs using Nero, then getting that app to finalise.
