Just wondering if anyone has any big misses they never caught at the cinema, mine was the Shawshank Redemption, never came to my home town so watched it on video only to be at York the following weekend and it was managers choice
I wuld also have liked to have caught The Thin Red LIne, i know many hate it but i love it and thought the cinematography was first class, my other one is the Mission but never mind thev'e given us a great dvd now with 5.1 which it would'nt have been at the pics anyhow.

NFT in London is available for rent . The can source prints of most films.
I'm sure there are others in the country that offer similar facilities.

Braveheart, Terminator 1 & 2, Predator, Aliens probably lots more, but they're the main ones, which i think i would have left the cinema speechless...! :)

And all cos i was too young... Thank God for Home Cinema! :D

Shawshank Redemption is on this weekend at my local VUE. Along with Godfather, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pulp Fiction and a couple more I think.

Maybe you should check online listings if you have a VUE near by (didn't see them advertised in the local paper).

Did you not catch it on the re-release?

I saw all 3 re-released, otherwise they would be on my list.

I would have loved to have been among the first audiences to watch King Kong. Of course I'm wishing for time travel as well as a second chance.

Who hates it? I've only ever seen rave reviews for it, all stating how much better it is than Saving Private Ryan in terms of being an anti-war film. I must say though, SPR was far more shocking upon it's first viewing, the carnage shown in the first half hour is a bold statement.

Huwg - saw the Alien re-release last December, it looked incredible, almost no dating whatsoever.

Would love to have been in the cinema to see the audience reaction when Kane gives birth. Nowadays people know what happens, but back then it must have been a real shock.

Would also like to have seen 'The Ususal Suspects' - one of those films you wish you could see for the first time again.

    Two that spring to mind:

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. :( Only watched on my 29" 4:3 Sony TV.

Donnie Darko (though I expect the "Directors Cut" will have a bigger release, but I'm not sure I like the changes that have been made).

Hmmm....maybe I should watch it again. All I remember is a load of Americans trying to see who can shout the loudest (Nick Nolte won of course ;) ).

slightly off-question, but i would liked to have been around when the true epics were first shown at the cinema - films like 'Spartacus' and 'Ben Hur' (Heston - not the older b&w one ;))
