Watching T3 on telly last night I asked my self "why am I watching this when I have a far superior copy on DVD?"

    Any ideas?

Please feel free to slate my choice of film if you please

Know what you mean exactly. It's usually a film that finishes a bit too late, as I have to get up early in the morn, but I still sit there watching it. Even though I have seen it many times and have it on DVD.

    Totally different viewing experiences.
One is a manifestation of self-gratification and empowerment: you chose a film and watch it.

The other is all about conforming to the group identity. You watch whatever has been chosen for the majority.

Both behaviours satisfy a lot of what makes us tick , being individuals and being social animals.

My Dad once stayed up till about 3am as he ordered Titanic on box office when it first came to sat TV. Needless to say, once he informed me of this, I reminded him that he had a copy on DVD just over there > which I had bought for him one Xmas.

Yes, it was still in the wrapper.

My Dad! An anbsolute gem of a man :)

    :)

    LOL... :D

If a movie is on tv that I get into and I do have it on dvd I will grab the disc out of the box and stick it in my player. Especially if the movie is on itv or channel 4 & 5. I hate the adverts in movies.

Yes many a time I lend my parents my DVD,s the ones I know they will like and they never watch them, but always moan nothings on TV, yet when the film comes on TV they watch it eg Gladiator last week.

I think it a bit of commitment to watch something ie I can watch the DVD an other day, yet if its on TV its a case of I best watch it or Ill miss it.

Often when a Movie is on tv that I own, I'll think, I'll just watch the open scenes or just up to a certain good bit as it's on anyway. Then I get into it and watch the whole thing.

The fact it's on dvd has little bearing. That involves making a decision :)

If the film is on an advert chanel I'll put the dvd in come the first ad break but what has happened in the past is the dvd will finish, I'll trun back to the tv and watch the end of the movie again

I do watch a large number of movies, both on tv and dvd (and yes, even on tape). I really enojy seeing movies I've watched in the past even though I have a great memory for what happens in them, but some people I know hate rewatching the same film.
