Thanks Sharuna for the review - looking at the rating of 12A is this similar in approach to Jurrasic Park/World level of violence or more graphic? Got 12 year olds who love the type of action and scares seen in the trailer but I’m not interested if high levels of gore.

Heading to see this in half an hour. My thoughts will be in the podcast on Monday. After reading the review my expectation levels have gone up very slightly. ;)

It’s not overly or excessively violent/gory ... a lot of he gore is in long shot so it’s not up close and personal. There were some very young children in the screening and judging from the laughter I think they all enjoyed the movie!

Big fan of The Rock's films, he seems to have become this generation's Arnie.
      I'll look forward to this.

I appreciate it's a parents choice but taking young (under 9) children to a 12A doesn't seem right to me. And don't get me started on parents who let young children play 18+ games on a console!

(Sorry for thread hijack - I'll shut up now!)

I'm not a fan of censorship in general. I don't like the idea of some idiot in an office telling me what myself or my children are capable of watching.

Aside from gratuitous sexual content, I've let my 2 watch pretty much anything with no ill effects.

I was at an 8pm showing last night with my 12 and 9 year old.

Group of adults gave a running commentary throughout the film whilst constantly rustling through bags of sweets and dropping what sounded like glass bottles on the floor.
Two adult lads in front desperately trying to snap a pic of the opening credits for their facebook page.

Not a peep from my kids as usual, they're even trained to eat strategically during noisy bits.

In my opinion, I've seen far worse behavior from adults than I've ever seen from children in the cinema. Plus the adults have no excuses for their behavior. Parents of noisy children should be dragged outside and beaten with a rubber hose, I'd gladly put my name down for the job :D

Was the film too old for them or the fact that they were too young to be in the cinema in general, i.e. no attention span? My two will sit quietly and take it all in, they're very good in the cinema unless the film is boring, but then I wouldn't take them to a film that I think would bore them........they even managed The Last Jedi with no issues, despite not enjoying it that much !

Sadly, yes I do. (Cue violins) It normally involves 12 hour days, 7 days a week and what most would class as unsociable hours. I decided to take the day off today :)

It wasn't mind blowing, but added some nice depth and height effects during the flight and city scenes.

This genre seems to be tainted nowadays by the Sharknado/Mega Tortoise rubbish, but I've always been interested in big monster movies due to growing up with the magic of Harryhausen from a very early age, and seeing the early Godzilla movies at Saturday morning cinema viewings. After seeing the trailer, the effects look really good, so I'll be giving this a try at the cinema, as it certainly looks like the sort of film that benefits from a big screen... :)

I heard this movie being reviewed on radio by two pseudo-intellectual film critics (one sounded like a tweed wearing college professor type and the other sounded like a militant feminist vegan metoo) - they both were putting it down extremely with the woman saying how she was looking at their watch during it. They were total ponces forced to view this by the radio program presenter :D - they gave it 1 out of 5 each

To put in perspective the very next review was for some sort of art-house indie low-budget docu-movie about interviews with various women throughout their lives - and this one the woman loved obviously.

Totally agree with Sharuna’s review, although I rate it higher.

And it makes a change for a movie adaptation of a video game to be actually decent.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: “How do you want me to play the CIA guy??”

Brad Payton: “Errrr....how about if Negan was a CIA guy before the world turned to sh*t?” :)

Well, I enjoyed the hell out of that, and it’s been a while since I’ve been able to say that about these type of CGI monster movies (last time was probably PJ’s King Kong). I liked Godzilla, Skull Island was ok in flashes but this is a superb thrill ride from start to finish. In a twist on the King Kong formula of Ann Darrow and the ape, this time the heart of the movie - and what really sells it beyond the aforementioned, recent creature features - is the bond between George the Albino Ape (brilliant effects BTW) and The Rock’s former military guy turned simian lover.

Johnson can do this amiable, action hero stuff in his sleep now - although his green screen acting is not bad either. The support from Negan is also fun (man he must have just come straight off the set of TWD to do that!), as well as the villainous turn from the icy Malin Ackerman (still got it!). I enjoyed Peyton’s SAN Andreas but Rampage cranks it up multiple notches. The difference between Rampage and last year’s Skull Island is that the set pieces are actually tense and exhilarating. Fun with a capital F. With the quality of the film, and Johnson’s popularity, i’ll be surprised if Rampage doesn’t rip apart China’s box office!

      8/10

Just got in from watching this in 3D have to say one the better films The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson has done recently.
I really enjoyed it better than the Jumanji remake which was very poor in comparison IMHO.

Like Mr Hinton 7.5/10 for me..!:smashin:

Kids enjoyed it, missus thought is was a pile of rubbish, me...mindless fun! Lots of bad language for younger kids and a bit of gore if you are thinking of taking them !

trailer for The Meg looked great .... again more mindless fun !
