Great review Cas, thanks... and so happy to hear it didn't disappoint.
The first film is one of my favourites of recent years.

Release date is shown as tomorrow, did you get invited to a preview?

Managed to (at pain of death) risk a trip on Valentine's Day for a preview.

I argued the 'Fifty Blades Sharper' anti-Fifty Shades ad campaign. It didn't work, so I went for bribery instead.

Thanks! I know your reservations about the first one and think the expanded world-building here should work for you. It's definitely the direction we could have only hoped that they would go in (rather than, say, the first 10 minutes, which I took as two fingers up at what 'Hollywood execs' would envisage would work as an entire sequel).

I WAS sold already but am now very sold - the first one is just such an excellent action movie it is great news that they have not "jumped the shark" with the second one

For me, this is a "going to see regardless of reviews" - ok i said that about Bourne, and it didn't turn out too great, although I've more confidence in this film - but it's great to hear the rave reviews (cheers Caz).

So long as this group of filmmakers stay involved at every stage of every project, I have faith this franchise won't ever risk jumping the shark. In fact, I'd probably gamble on them finding a way to have Reeves, gun in hand, leaping over a tank with a shark in it, whilst blasting away opponents to an electronic beat. And, as a result, resetting the very definition of the phrase. :D

I agree. I felt the same way. But, thankfully, this is NOT Jason Bourne. Let us hope that the name John Wick never attracts that kind of level of apathy-bordering-on-disdain.

Nice review Cas, ironically my 4k copy of the original john wick has just turned up ...so its good to know that they didn't fudge this sequel up..Keanu often gets criticised for dodgy acting, but i think he pulls off the brooding hell bent, methodical assassin very well, not to mention all the fight choreography he learns and applies himself in the scenes there really well done..might go the flix for this one.

      Right Cas,

Firstly thank you for the review....But....

Do you remember that time I managed to convince you to change a review from a 9 to a 10?

Well you can probably expect more of the same once I see this :D

So happy to hear this hit the spot for you, I am sure I shall be entertained!

Edit: You can all have 2 guesses which film I convinced Cas to change the rating for (Not that it took much persuading  )

@Casimir Harlow did you watch it in a Dolby Atmos theatre ? Or any other members for that matter as John Wick was the first Atmos disc I purchased ( awesome ) and hopefully this takes full advantage of that soundstage.

If it's just the reported cuts holding you back, don't wait, the single cut is nothing to do with any of the action whatsoever (it's a bit like when they remove animal cruelty from films; it's not something that should make a difference to your enjoyment of the film).

I get that we should have got an uncut 18 but this a film worth seeing at the cinema and I think you'll be disappointed if you miss out purely over this particular single cut.

I dunno. I'd rater see what the director intended, rather than a 'bums on seats' edit.
