Thanks Cas, Takashi Miike is one of my favourite directors and this is getting rave reviews everywhere. Never thought he would ever get anything shown on the big screen but unfortunately not one cinema anywhere near us is showing this at any time of day. Great review as always, so hopefully not too long til the blu ray is out.

I spent most of the 140 minutes running time grinning like a loon. If you can get to see this film on a big screen then it is worth the drive time. It will be glorious in 16K MUTT (Mega Ultra Terrific Turbo) Blu-ray, the latest format that I have just invented, but still won't be the same as it is a genuine big screen filler.

Nearest screening is 80 miles away so depending on the weather, still a chance for tuesday :)

I really want to go see this, but I'm seeing Star Wars Thurs and there's only so much time I can get away from the wife and little terrors. Unfortunately I'll have to wait and see at home.

Star Wars will be showing for aeons whereas Blade of the Immortal will have only a limited run. It's always a matter of individual taste but I know which of the two I prefer (I have seen them both) and, in my opinion, is actually the much better film that I would happily see again. Clue: the swords are the real kind ;)

I hear what you're saying but I'm already booked for Star Wars, and I'm more concerned about avoiding spoilers for that as it's very unlikely I'll hear any about Blade of the Immortal.

Managed to catch this yesterday on my day off.
Must say I very much enjoyed it and it looked great on the big scope screen.
I particularly thought the young girl ‘Rin’ was fantastic, lots of good action even though I thought some of the framing felt a bit claustrophobic couldn’t always seen what was happening and there was a lot of ‘plot’ but there are some cool side characters who all look very unique and the main protagonist is very likeable & there are some big violent fight scenes 7/10

I hope you enjoy Star Wars and post your thoughts here afterwards. I don't think Blade of the Immortal can be spoiled, TBH!

I watched the Blu-Ray,which i already out in other regions. What a movie,my grin didnt leave my face for 140 minutes too!

It is not terribly original and it recycles elements from movies like 13 Assassins,Azumi,Miike's Django and others, but the carnage is dizzying and the plot and the characters are very well realised too.

The Blu-Ray also looks great, even more so for a Miike film,so i can imagine it will look even better in the cinema. The picture is sharp and the colours are very warm and rich, without looking overdone.Would make for a great 4k release!

Got to catch this today and have to say, well worth the near 200 mile trip. To see Miike on the big screen, in a cinema with only one other person in, has been the highlight of my year so far. Great acting all round but the sword play and slayings was something else. Graphic and beautiful at the same time. 9/10.

Saw this on the small screen recently. A real treat and great film to end the cinematic year on; one of the very best movies released in 2017. Wonderfull.
