Has anybody else seen this yet? Watched my copy today, impressions: The film: Script/Screenplay Its your basic Korea vs Japan martial arts movie, loosly based on korean martial arts legend Choi Bae-dal life, who in turn took the ulitmate Japanese Samurai (in my book at least) Miyamoto Musashi as his role model. Those who don't know, Musashi traveled round Japan beating the out of any worthy challenger. Bae-dal did the same, except with his fists. Action The usual crazyness going on, with a reassuring number of "oh my god" and "did you see that" moments, most (if not all) appear to be wire free. Its just a shame that the fights do not go on long enough for my tastes, but this it is far more realistic because of this. Transfer: Video Another top notch region 3 transfer, a lovely levels of colour, contrast, both subtlety used. Audio DTS & DD 5.1 soundtracks are present, only tried the DTS mix so far. Its very similar to the house of the flying daggers, without any of the show pieces, save a nice bit with some taiko drums. In summary it seems like they took three virtually unrelated short stories about Bae-dal and tacked them together, the middle bit seems strongest scriptwise to me, with the majority of the action happening in the final third.
