Has anyone had a chance to compare the new "Fifth Element - Ultimate Edition" against the old "Superbit" version?

I know the new edition is supposed to be "superbit" as well but I was wondering if anyone had compared picture and sound quality?

    Please reply with your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Martin.

it looks like the ultimate edition is the R1 superbit and an extras disc, but i'm still looking for more info, i really want it to have the 1536kb/s DTS track the R2 special edition has!

the term "ultimate" edition will be wasted on this dvd if it doesnt improve on every version already in existance.. i'm sure ultimate means better than all that came before it, and never to be bettered. If it's the R1 superbit disc, then the sound has already been beaten, and the R2 extras disc has more extras than this "ultimate" one, so if it wasn't for the lousy picture quality on the R2 special edition, i'd definitely go for that one instead.

I'm in the process of reviewing the Ultimate Edition of The Fifth Element, and as I own the single Superbit edition as well I'll include a few comparisons. The new release has been "remastered in High Definition" and my initial impressions are that image quality is a little improved, interestingly this is most evident when comparing image flaws - scratches and marks look sharper in the new release!

    Watch this space... :)

My review is finally up - I think the image quality in the new Ultimate Edition is definitely a step up from the original Superbit release...
