I'm after the best price for, The Fifth Element (2 disc) special edition.

I found it last night on 'DVD Price Check' @ £9.99 R2 at CDWow, but when I followed the link, it didn't exist :(
Now today the link on 'DVD Price Check' has gone as well

Was this just a wrong link or did The £9.99 special edition actually exist on CDWow and I was just too slow.
Anybody actually manage to buy this DVD or know of a similar deal anywhere else?

CD-WOW don't list Dvds as out of stock.

I've come across this myself so just keeping searching for it every few days and it will probably re-appear.

Last week....... I can't believe I missed it. I've been checking prices for it, quite a bit recently. :suicide:

Thanx for letting me know, I'll keep an eye out for it. Hopefully they'll get some more back in stock at CDWow, at the same price.

Yep, I know they only show them, if they have them. Unfortunately, sometimes they never show up again :(

If anyone spots the special edition back in at CDWow before me, can you let me know on this thread. Hopefully I will not miss next time.
    Cheers :smashin:

I got the R2 2-disc SE for £9.99 from HMV online about two weeks ago. Don't know if they still have it in the sale, but it may be worth checking their site.

Remember you have to pay extra for p&p, though. Isn't too bad if you want to order a few things at once, as I did.

and it says pre-order for 26th April04 release date

Best I can find at the moment is £13.99 @ www.dvd.co.uk . I hope CDWow get some back in soon ;)

    Ouch indeed!

    I don't get the pre-order for 26th April04 either. What's going on there then?

Sorry it was of no help to you, but if it's been in a HMV sale then I'll bet it'll turn up pretty soon for a tenner at Play, Bensons, etc or back at CDWow.

I don't suppose by any chance, they're going to correct it back down to £9.99, are they? :D

Well I don't mean to sound naive, but when I looked at this site, the only "fifth element" disc they were selling appeared to be the single disc versionfor £ 8.95 and even then they did'nt really describe much about it!A bit dubious..

Hmm, I don't think you looked very far did you.

I just typed Fifth Element in the search box and got 3 results - the video for £7.99, a 3 DVD box set containing single disc versions of Fifth Element; The Abyss & Aliens and the 2 disc S.E. for £9.99 as advertised on the email I received.

    It's definitely the Special Edition.

CrazyHorse , thanks for letting me know about this one. :smashin:
It is indeed the SE 2 disc set.

Strange search engine though. I did 'Fifth Element' search on all departments and it only came up with music discs
Search directly on dvds and it still doesn't find the SE one.

I got to it via DVDprice check, which incidently doesn't say it's the SE set. It appears to be a pre order for 03/05/04 (must be when their special offer starts), hence why 101CD's own search eng. misses it when you look in the DVD section, altghough it doesn't explain why it misses it on a full search.

Update: I just tried full search on 101CD using just the word 'Fifth' and it found all of them :)
Still a bit strange that it didn't work for me using the words 'Fifth Element'. Ah well, life is strange somtimes.

BTW you were right that after being in the HMV sale, it has now turned up elsewhere for £9.99 :D

I got all exicited then thinking CDwow had it back in. Then I'd be able to get it even cheaper with one of the discount links

 The 2 disc SE (R2) is now available at www.dvd.co.uk for £8.99.
It's the same Fox offer, released in May. Patience has it's rewards :D

    Nice price.
Can anyone advise me which version has the best PQ.

I see the SE has DTS, I know there is a Superbit out there somewhere- I have the 1999 R2 release - just wondering if the picture has been remastered in any way and if worth buying the SE?

    Anyone know?

It's got to be worth a look for only £ 8.99.... It's an Anamorphic Transfer (which I don't think the original WS is), DTS sound & a disc of extras.

Also if you look at Phil Hinton's review of the Superbit version ... quote:
"The film is brilliant fun and the picture and sound presentation here is first class, but if you want extras then get the original R1 release which has an almost as good picture and sound quality. Whatever you do, stay away from the awful R2 transfer. 9/10"

I am assuming & hoping he's talking about the original R2 release that you have ;). If owned the original, I still buy this :smashin: honest ;)

    Thanks Bender,

your right- original WS has no mention of ananmorphic transfer.
Time to invest another £8.99 in my collection I think:)

    Cheers

I have it on Superbit R3, it is amazing the picture leaps out of the screen, Fifth element is quite a vivid picture anyway but the superbit is great.

Got it from CD WOW for 5.99 with vouchers;).

Is the "release date" down as 01/05/04 on these sites too?

I'm still waiting as DVD.co.uk had this on their site...

It seems there is a Fox Promotion starting on Monday where films are £17.99 each but it is 'Buy One Get One Free', there isnt a massive selection available but some goods ones like The Abyss, Predator and X-Men 2 are in there, Play.com seem to just be selling them at half price though and not BOGOF but im sure they will actually sell more titles this way.
