FIFA World Cup Bid report

As long as people pay stupid money to go to the matches it will go on.

not quite. should have read, as long as people pay vast sums of money to win world cup votes

Strictly regarding FIFA, its not really any of this. FIFA gets its declared gains from brand association and TV rights primarily, the ticket sales are almost incidental as most goes to the hosting organisation.

The fans really have no power over FIFA at all; even UEFA would be taking a calculated risk in boycotting. The market in emerging countries, not embittered towards Blatter, would support FIFA financially. Short of all the major FIFA "partners" (Adidas, Coke etc) pulling out en mass, PLUS a wide scale boycott of the actual WC tournament itself by nations and fans would be sufficient to even move the debate forward whilst Blatter and pals are in charge.

Michael Garcia has now resigned. Will anyone in the upper echelons of football notice though or do anything in response... Will EUFA actually do anything about it?

BBC Sport - Michael Garcia: Fifa investigator resigns in World Cup report row

Fifa's independent ethics investigator Michael Garcia has quit in protest over the handling of his report into bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
The American lawyer cited a "lack of leadership" at the top of football's world governing body.
Garcia said he lost confidence in the independence of judge Hans-Joachim Eckert, an ethics committee colleague.

Uefa president Michel Platini said: "We wanted all transparency but this is a new failure for Fifa."
The head of European football spoke out as Garcia resigned a day after Fifa's appeals panel rejected his challenge of Eckert's summary of his report.

Eerily accurate.

So, they have just decided that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played either in November or December.

That is going to shake up the European leagues somewhat.

The leagues who take a winter break can absorb it a little better if the tournament is in December. I'd imagine everyone will start the season a few weeks earlier. It may even be an idea for top flight clubs to withdraw from domestic cup competitions that year. Sounds a bit weird but weird solutions might be needed for a weird problem.

Could be interesting to see what the English FA decide. Would certainly be an advantage for the teams with less international players in the WC to want it to stay as is, to play weakened top teams.

Also, could some teams actually struggle to put out a team, especially with so many "2nd tier" players also being internationals.

I'd be surprised if top flight clubs were still playing matches during the WC. Some clubs would literally have to put out youth teamers and reserves.

Personally we should pull out of qualifying and the whole tournament itself
That won't help the premiership though, all the non English players will still go play and the problem will remain. England boycotting a tournament won't do much anyway, they'd need uefa to back them and more teams boycott, a tournament with no Germany, France, Italy, England, Netherlands or Spain would make a real statement but I can't see it happening, Fifa doors need to be kicked straight at some point though

Surely we could all put some money in and get a hitman to take Sepp Blater out.
He might have popped his clogs anyway by 2022. Although I wouldn't put it past him to have gotten hold of some of those Wolverine blood sample injections to give him eternal youth, or maybe tap into some of Lance Armstrong's EPO stash.

It's a disgrace really, as everyman and his dog knows including probably those opposing him that they are not going to oust him out but just giving themselves abit of limelight, yes that Prince bloke looks a great shout and Figo seems sensible enough, unfortunately for them they are not corrupt enough to have the backing of the concaf federations which will get Blatter over the line....sad state of affairs when a sporting organisation is actually more powerful and above the law, than actual governments and the criminal justice system, how can that be right in any real world !!!!

Should have gave them the Winter Olympics as well , makes as much sense as giving them a tournament that has always been held in June and July , then extreme high tempature's should rule them out. We have never held the Winter Olympics because of lack of Snow but with the criteria used for Qatar no reason a lack of snow should stop us, we could double up with Jamaica in a bid. You know it makes sense.

Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt.

FIFA / UEFA whoever, all about cash / bribes. Russia then Qatar for next two world cups. Farce.

If Sepp blatter were to live long enough, he would probably give North Korea the world cup after Qatar
