Question Fibrenest question

Hello,

I am moving house at the end of the year/beginning of next and it is to a Charles Church development. As they are a part of Persimmon the only BB option is Fibrenest.

This FTTP/FTTH and from what they are telling me, you have to use their router to manage everything and can't use a 3rd party. I know my BT router at the moment (Mesh version) allows port forwarding etc

I am trying to find out what the interface is like (in their own brand router) and I was hoping to upgrade to an ASUS router once we moved but not sure if their sales teams flat out, no to 3rd party routers is true.

Any experience people have had would be great!

Thanks

Persimmon's homes sales team will know diddly squat about the technical side of Persimmon FTTP. Your best hope is that Persimmon install a separate FTTP ONT and router in the property (ala Openreach FTTP), so you could connect your own router to their ONT. They might need to supply you with PPPoE login details though. On the other hand, they might install a combined ONT/router (ala Gigaclear FTTP) in which case you have no choice but to use their router - though it might be possible to connect your own router to use as Access Points.

It wasn't the sales team it was Fibrenest customer service that told me, so I am guessing that it is the combined router and I will have to use their abomination of a router;)
