Can anyone point me to where i can find instructions on setting up girder to automaticaly run the registry settings needed to switch between pal/nstc in ffdshow. Ive seen it mentioned over at avs forums but cant find a thread with detailed instructions on how to do it. Apparently you use the dvdspy and regedit plugins to change registry upon insertion of a dvd. By the way im running theatertek and sonic decoder.

It's easier to skip doing it with Girder.

Use the free system tray utility DVDautorefresh to detect when a PAL or NTSC disk is inserted and set the registry accordingly.

You have to set the DWORD registry entry "HardCodeForPal" = 1 for PAL disks and = 0 for NTSC disks.

    HardCodeForPal should be created at:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sonic\Cinemaster DS DVD\2.5\VideoDecoder\

Anydvd will also run an external program or batch file dependant on region.

Thanks thats much easier than trying to learn how girder works. Is their any way that the registry settings can be added without the popup box appearing asking if its ok to enter the settings, kind of spoils the integrated look of my meedio front end.

Anydvd will do this, but not for dvds on a hard drive.

Do avoid the popup, use a MS-DOS Batch File to open the reg file.

Im using batch files to run the registry entries through any dvd, do I need to enter a switch or parameter to stop the "are you sure you want to add these settings to the registry" popup window.

Here is my batch file, I believe the switch you need is the /s. I don't get the pop up confirmation boxes with these batch files

    c:\windows\regedit.exe /s "c:\Reg\ntscenable.reg"
    c:\windows\regedit.exe /s "c:\Reg\NTSCres.reg"

I resize to 3 x DVD resolution, so have a PAL and NTSC bat file, in conjunction with AnyDVD, that changes the PAL/NTSC setting for FFDShow, and the vertical resolution at the same time. This is the NTSC one. Hope it helps
