Yet again Pixmania have changed the stats of this TV. More than two weeks ago when I ordered they had this set marked as 'IN STOCK'. It changed to (available 8-10 days the day after I ordered, then to 'available 21/10/05 and now it has changed to 'available 11/11/05. What the hell is goin on???

Are there any other places I can buy this set for a similar price? Any other DLPs' around £1200 I should consider?

I've had a torrid time trying to get a TV sorted out these last few months cuz everything seems to be a disaster! Any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm afraid this seems to be pretty typical behaviour for Pixmania.

Makro had this set on offer a while back and maybe costco had it as well.

Suggest you read the threads a bit more carefully with respect to what is happening with Robertson's at the minute.

    Okay - Comet then.

I know you eventually settled on the High Street dealer for all the right reasons. I myself have settled with Comet/Curry's for my soon to be Samsung SP50L6!

Both Comet and Currys online appear to have stock - depending on your postcode.

I have just received this from Miller Brothers online re SP46L6 @ £1186,

    I asked :

    “Can you please confirm:

    1. the model number of "SAMSUNG SP46L6 DLP PROJ.SCREEN SILVER"
    2. That it comes with a samsung stand.
    3. When you could deliver one to Swindon.
    4. This is a UK sourced machine.
    Thanks”

    They Replied:

“This item is a special order item only and may take upto 14 working days for delivery, The item is supplied with a stand and is of UK specifiaction direct from SAMSUNG UK.
    Kindest regards.”

Both Currys and Comet appear to have stock @£1499 but I think they will pricematch to the comet web price of £1399, the £1499 at Currys includes a Samsung 850 DVD player in my local store (Swindon).

That's a great find. Problem is, I live in Northern Ireland and it says mainland UK only sadly for me. Might send them an e-mail and see if there is some kind of work around.

After seeing the mainly negative feedback on the Sagem D45 G4, see thread, I have just ordered the Samsung SP46L6 for £1186.74 inc delivery from Miller Bros with delivery in 2 - 3 weeks, So it should be ready when I get back from my Jollies. Now I just need to buy a router to widen the stand aperture slightly to take a Yamaha YSP-1 as it looks about 2-3mm too narrow….

I will let you know how I get on.

    GOOD MAN.

You have made the right choice. I GUARANTEE that the Samsung 46L6 will BEAT the Sagem in EVERY regards!

If you are unhappy with your 46 in anyway, I will buy you a Fish Supper.

    You won't regret your choice.

The catch with trying to price match is that most price matches even on the internet are based on the item being in stock at the place you're comparing to - if they don't have it in stock - no match.

OK, the Sagem doesn't sound to promising according to folk on this website so I think that pretty much rules that out. Still want the Samsung SP46 but Comet nor Miller Bros' deliver to Northern Ireland :nono:

I have sent an e-mail to Miller Bros' to see if they can make an exception but I doubt it. Where is the best place to get the Sony 50" 3LCD or even the 42" version?

I think 50" would be too big for my room.

Have been looking at a few 42" Plasmas from Samsung around £1,200 but ideally, if I can get the SP46 I will. Don't really fancy any other DLP sets at present. I may hold off for a few weeks to see what happens...

Don't Currys deliver to Northern Ireland - their website suggests they do - "United Kingdom (but excluding the Channel Islands and, for some larger items, the Isle of Man, Anglesey, The Scilly Isles and the Scottish islands). "

Dear ALL - in particular anyone who owns a Samsung SP46L6HXX DLP TV:

I have this latest news from Samsung UK about their current SP46L6HX DLP TV compared to their last year's one (SP46L3HX) - which I personally own:

They tell me that that the new SP46L6HXX actually on has 2 x 1-Way speakers built-in - whereas last year's first Sammy DLP, the SP46L3HX - had 4 x 2-way speakers built in.

They also claim that this year's model does NOT have:
    1. progressive scan
    2. Gamma compensation
    3. Micro Fine Pitch Screen
    4. First Surface mirror
    5. LNA
    6. Graphic Equaliser (only bass/treble instead)

and yet Samsung UK are saying that this years' 46L6 DOES have DCDi Faroudja built-in, as well as a Built-in Flash Memory slot!! And they claim the it's got an HD2+ DMD chip in there - not a HD4....

Can any SP46L6HX owner or someone who's in the know please clarify all the above - as I'm wondering it here's any benefit in me selling my L3 and upgrading to this L6 - based on the above -I'm not sure there is!!

    Thanks.

Mine should hopefully be arriving this afternoon so I can hopefully answer your questions but it definatly does progressive scan as the manual says it does 480p and 720p (and the native mode of the tv is 720p so I'd be a bit suprised if it didn't have progressive scan). Didn't see a flash memory slot on it when I was in comet and it isn't mentioed in the manual either.

    Thanks

Yeah I'm sure they do. There are plenty of Currys/Dixons stores around anyway but according to the Currys website there are none available in Northern Ireland. More to the point, I don't think I could afford the £1,499 price. I set a budget of £800 but after realising there are no suitable sets around that price range, I decided to up the budget to a max of £1,200. If anyone knows of a really good set around this money, wheter it be Plasma or DLP (I've given up on LCD) I would be VERY interested to find out.

    Thanks guys,

I thought the contrast level was only 2000? Yours says 2500

It does have Progressive Scan and Gamma compensation and some others according to your spreadsheet. Where did you hear differently?

    Thanks

Well, some obvious mistakes in the spreadsheet. It definately does PAL, not just NTSC. Does progressive scan, DNR, only 3 picture modes (not 4), does colour temp adjust (5 settings), has DNIe, sound equaliser, does picture and text, does ATS, etc......

I wouldn't trust that spreadsheet, probably better to read the manual instead.

I've just taken delivery of one of these beauties and it rocks!

This is an impressive display, certainly on a par with the larger SP50L7. I haven't fine tuned the picture yet but initial impressions are encouraging. Even ntl via SCART is good!

I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a good value large screen TV.

No rainbows as yet but its early days I suppose.

It DOES have the features listed. No flash memory slot as far as I am aware. The sound is pretty good in my opinion. Bare in mind that a surround sound system will be used in most cases.

    Hi ViperGrm, cjgpers, AndoverRed...

    Thanks for all our replies.
Actually the spreadsheet comes directly from the DLP TV Marketing team at Samsung Head OFfice UK!! So that's pretty worrying - esp when u look at their website and there's more contradictions in certain places.

So for clarification, may I just double check with you guys that the following features ARE on the SP46L6HXX set please:

    1. progressive scan
    2. Gamma compensation
    3. Micro Fine Pitch Screen
    4. First Surface mirror
    5. LNA
    6. Full 5-band Graphic Equaliser like last year's model (not just bass/treble)
    7. Sound quality - I'm hoping it's got 4 x 2-way speakers - otherwise surely if it's only got 2 x 1 way speakers then it won't be as crisp with treble and good round bass (as does my SP46L3 set)...

And finally - have any of u guys compared the quality of both the L3 and L6 to see if there's any REAL visible difference in PQ?

    Thanks again.

Maybe that spreadsheet you sent is a US version or more likely perhaps a mistake by customer services. You can check the exact specification of the Samsung HERE

I don't have this set yet obviously, but most of the guys who own one on this forum would be able to tell you if that is porkies or not.

I'm a bit confused. If you read the spreadsheet correctly, ie, the dark boxes mean that it is a standard feature, then it does list features you say it hasn't got.

I think you're reading the spreadsheet incorrectly, the "X" means that the feature IS NOT available, the black box means it is.

Neilmcl - That is exactly how I read it. I do believe the speakers are only one way. Not that it really matters though...

Your absolutely correct. The dangers of sending out a spreadsheet without a key!! This spreadsheet actually confirms how well spec'd the SP46L6HX is. Of course, the one big missing feature is 1:1 pixel mapping on HDMI 720P.
