featherweight laptops

    Anyone out their with any recommendations of featherweight laptops?
    I have been looking at acer travelmates and sony vaio's - I don't want a mac.,,, Thanks

    If weight is the highest priority then I had a play with the Toshiba Libretto U100 recently - great spec, small and less than 1kg - I was very impressed

    but if you have priorites other than weight...? you may need to look elsewhere.....

    Do you want a built in optical drive? This was a big factor for me when I choose a ultra-light laptop as it ruled quite a few out, incl the new samsung models (which do look very nice). In the end I went with a Sony Vaio - 60GB HD, 512mb memory, 1.1Ghz centrino etc etc and I'm very pleased with it.

    Sony TX series weigh 1.3KG - not the cheapest though

    yes we would like a built in optical drive - I'm not too fussed but my other half says we do! battery life and weight a big factor for me.

    This one is the one I bought quite recently. As I said previously I'm very happy with it :)
