Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is finally being released on dvd!

All the extras you could want + a new transfer and new dolby digital & DTS mixes.

Great news - and about time too!

    Absolutely bloody brilliant movie!
Very well adapted/directed (well it is T. Gilliam ;))
I nearly wet myself laughing at the cinema when I first saw it - mind you I was a little under the influence at the time

Could someone give a quick rundown of the gist? As SG says, I'm hesitant if I'd like it too :)

The film is great, I've already ordered the criterion from CDwow, just go to wait for the release date. The film is a lot better if you are under the influence while watching it.

The first time I watched it I had been smoking and didn't stop laughing from start to finish.

The idea of a reporter writing an article while high, is just funny to start off with.

Made me throw up last time I saw it.

Excellent movie....loved by a minority, hated by heathens.

    It's definitely an acquired taste.
My advice for anyone that had never seen it would be to either rent it on vhs or get your ar5e down to Virgin and pick it up on vhs for 2.99 first - you'll either love it or hate it and either way 2.99's cheap so if you hate it its cheaper than buying the Criterion set. It's not a film that sits well with most people.

just read the extras list... I'm sooo off to order this.

that quote from the opening scene on CD-Wow "We were somewhere around Barstow when the drugs began to take hold... " swayed me in the end, i watch my vhs every now and again but the critereon extras are amazing.

I second that. I couldn't put it down - read it all in one sitting and then read it again the next day. Hysterical stuff.

It's brilliant news but i have a problem. I'm just one of many who don't have a region one DVD player and I'm OBSESSED with this film. It's hands down the best film I've ever seen. I've seen it about 100 times + and it still cracks me up.
My question is, Does anyone know if it is available in special edition in England?

According to Amazon.co.uk it's due for a R2 release on Sept 5th from Universal. It's up for pre-order now at £11.99 and I suspect it will be a bare bones release.

The Criterion of Fear & Loathing is a superb package and if you're a fan of the film, it really is the one to get.

What DVD player do you have Slothrox? Couldn't you possibly find a region hack for it, as you're really missing out on a huge variety of DVD's that either aren't available in this country or are inferior releases to other regions.

At the mo I've got a slimline PS2. I'm not entirely sure if it plays all region or region 1 or not.
I wouldn't settle for the normal film option. It has to be special edition for me. After all, there's some kind of bent appeal in the notion of running a savage burn in one vegas hotel room and then just wheeling across town to another.
Can my PS2 sustain me or do I need an upgrade?
