I got this working with TT at the weekend and find that it really does make a difference in so far as adding an extra sharknes to the image. Do others use it and what is the general opion on this piuece of software?

I've had nothing but trouble getting it to work. Some nice ideas but I think it has made me more keen to get the DScaler stuff properly ported over to DirectShow or DMO.

I agree Richard. JohnAD, I had bit of trouble getting it working but when I did I was very impressed. It really does improve picture quality. I was very worried that it would increase stutter but my P4 1.4 has no problem with it. Processor runs at about 16% without ffdshow and 40% with it running. I only get a little stutter when I right-click to bring up the TT menu.

I don't like it, many DVDs have too much EE already without adding more. Like gamma adjustment, I would use sparingly if at all.

I used the Matrix (Region 1) as a reference disk and particularly enjoyed what it did for that particular movie..

The hardcodeforPAL took some setting up in girder etc, next would be the ability to switch it on and off from within TT from my pronto.. maybe next weeks project!! One other negative is the loss of movie start functionality and the overlay sizing problem...

I will use it for certain movies, older, softer pictures do benefit...

    but....
I also agree with Jeff that some discs especially the newer ones and superbit certainly do not benefit and look worse... with the HTPC (and hassle) does come the flexibility of choosing...

    Cheers
    Paul.

Could someone post a link to a site that gives more info about FDDShow please? I seem to be able to find places to download it but can't actually find out what it does or how it's used.

Does it enhance D-Scaler or replace it?

    Thanks,

    Mark.
