What are you favourite love songs since 1960, I say 1960 as this is more in the pop era, and if you go back further there are a lot of classics.

    Here are some of mine:

Long After Tonight Is All Over: Jimmy Radcliffe
    Still: Commodores
Could It Be I’m Falling In Love :Detroit Spinners (met these guys, what a nice bunch of guys they were).
    Open Arms: Journey
We’ve Come To Far To End It Now: Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
    Without You: Nilsson
Without You (different song from above): Peabo Bryson
If Ever Your In My Arms Again: Peabo Bryson
Tell Her Love Has Felt The Need: Eddie Kendricks
She’s Out Of My Life: Michael Jackson
Reach Out For Me: Dionne Warwick
    Walk On By: Dionne Warwick
You Are The Heart Of Me; Dionne Warwick
Trying To Hold On To My Woman: Lamont Dozier
    Wildflower; Skylark
If You Leave Me Now: Chicago
I Honestly Love You: Olivia Newton John
Georgia on my mind: Ray Charles
Some Guys Have All The Luck: The Persuaders (the original version of this song)
    The Time: Inez Foxx
    The Hungry Years: Rita Coolidge
    Forget About Me: Prince Harold
Ain’t Understanding Mellow: Jerry Butler & Brenda Lee Eager
Your All I Need To Get By: Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
I Won’t Remember Ever Loving You: Walter Jackson

Well I started out making a list of 10 and ended up with 25 with more I want to mention such as most of Dusty Springfield’s works.

Mine would be more recent than yours Garrett ..... well you did say "since 1960" :). But I'm afraid to list any of them for fear that everyone thinks I'm a big girl's blouse

Is it because of the artist or the song?

Just the fact that it's love songs. ;) :p

Okay - here's a few of my favourites off the top of my head. Most of them hold some sort of sentimental meaning or memory for me:

I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden
    Angel - Sarah McLachlan
    Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
    Slide - Goo Goo Dolls
I Love You Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel
    Creep - Radiohead
Wherever You Will Go - The Calling
Love Song - Five For Fighting
Say Goodnight - Beth Nielsen Chapman
Fall At Your Feet - Crowded House
Walking After You - Foo Fighters
    Everlong - Foo Fighters
    Slide Away - Oasis
    Talk Tonight - Oasis
Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon
If I Am - Nine Days
Absolutely (Story of A Girl) - Nine Days
Crazy For This Girl - Evan and Jaron
I Don't Want to Wait - Paula Cole
London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do) - Heather Nova
    Everywhere - Michelle Branch
    Thank You - Dido
    Yellow - Coldplay

I know I've missed out loads more that I like but I don't fancy scanning through all of my CDs to jog my memory :p

Damn. Forgot about Dire Straits and U2. Love 'em. :(

I love the Smiths too, but that's not a love song - like most Smiths songs it's about depression and rejection :p

I think we'll all wish we'd put more in after we see everyone else's lists. Don't worry.... we can only remember so much in such a short space of time :)

I like that one. It's on the 'Magnolia' soundtrack (the 'Aimee Mann version' not the original score). I'd never heard any Supertramp before I bought that soundtrack and saw 'Magnolia'. :)

Maybe I should also add "Smack my bitch up" by the Prodigy :D

If I was going back before 1960 this would be one I picked. I haven’t heard the duo but the one by Frank on his own is absolutely stunning. It came/was use in the film The Joker Is Wild which is also a cracking good film.

I really like Frank's original but considering he was dead the duet with Celine is one of the best I've heard.

Oooh, now we're getting somewhere then :D

My favourite music is contemporary indie/rock, but I have a wide range of tastes. :) I do like the stuff you posted too, it's just that it's not up there with my absolute favourites. I'm a particular fan of Billy Joel - got almost all of his CDs :) And I love Anita Baker's Rapture album too :)

I have everything of his on vinyl  .
Seen him a good few times, had "gold" front row seats for the the Old Trafford concert with BJ/EJ, shame it was cancelled.
Last year's 9/11 tribute concert with him at the piano with a FDNY helmet, New York State Of Mind was best part of the show.
Did you see the repeat of his Old Grey Whistle Test last night......saw it first time out.

No! Are they repeating the old series (what's the plural of series?) or was it just a one off?

Not a fan of Carol, but she is good looking, her hair was terrible, looked like she had been dragged through an edge backwards, but looks really good with those hair extensions. By the way I liked her in that dress everyone criticized her for:p .
Honor I think was the only Bond girl not to show her legs.

Beverly Craven - Promise Me: like that one as well, and I also have the Rapture CD.

If you're getting married, then by far the best song to play at a wedding is:

    "Amazed" by Lone Star

A really great song!! Very popular at weddings too, so you wouldn't be alone!!

I'm not a huge country fan, but I do like Lone Star. I have all their albums

Song for wedding reception mmmm let me think.

    Champagne: How About Us
Kool and the Gang: Cherish or Always and Forever.
Fen Kinney: Together We Are Beautiful (a little up beat)
    Never My Love Association
The Wind beneath My Wings: Lee Greenwood

Actually the very first song in my first post is good, first line is. Tonight for the first time I have learnt what my lips are for. (((I know you must have kissed her before))).
And the refrain goes. Long after tonight is all over, long after it is all gone I’ll be yours, forever and the day I’ll be yours.
Only thing apart from one, they are all smoochy music, and do you want that for the first dance?

PS what ever you do, do not play Hey Girl Don’t Bother me by The Tams.
