Faulty plasma within 2 weeks! What are my rights?

    I've had my Hitachi 42PD5200 for 2 weeks now and I have notcied a green line running from the top of my screen right to the bottom. This does not seem to go and is present on every AV channel.

    As a consumer what rights do I have??

    you should be able to get a replacement or a refund.

    Hi I bought it from Comet. What is your honest opinion?? Exchange or a refund???
    From what Ive heard about Alis screens and the model not working with the sky 720p signal, maybe I should wait a little?

    depends how you like it apart from th efault...if you are not that impressed just go for the refund....plenty of other options about and on the way

    Thats what I was thinking, although im in love with it, I think I should really wait to see what is round the corner. :)

    that's what Im thinking. Surely that can't argue with me as I have the law on my side. I know how the stores work as some manager try and pull one over you as deny it all. I will be sure to give them hell and grief tomorrow! :)

    best bet is just go in..be firm but polite....say you've taken advice and you want a refund

    I used to work for Comet. They'll refund you - but they WILL try to make you either choose another one or have a replacement of the same model.

    The Law states that you can reject faulty goods and demand a refund within a 'resonable period of time'. Clearly two weeks is within this period, and you are well within your rights for a refund.

    Hey Guys, went into the store today and the manager was really friendly. Politely explained what happened. He was shocked to see hear this, but was on my side. ALso told him that i didn't recieve a manual also. He took my number down and said that he will get an engineer to come round and confirm the fault. Once confirmed, I need to go back into the store and obtain a full refund. Helpful, but I now need to wait a few more days. In the mean time, altought I will be without a plasma, I think I will need to heavily research on my next plasma screen.
