    Hi,

After 5 years my Philips 32PW9544 has decided to pack up. The symptoms are that the screen has gone blank, the red power indicator light continuosly flashes, & there is a burning smell coming from the back. Can anyone tell me what this indicative of, & whether it is worth getting repaired?

    Many thanks!

It is hard to remotely diagnose but it probably is worth repairing.......the led flashing is indicating that the set has shut down and is in "Protection" mode preventing further damage due to an over-voltage or over-current condition.
The burning could be a short-circuit capacitor or line output transformer the replacement of which should be relatively inexpensive compared to a new set.......worst-case scenario is a resistor connected to one of the crt guns burning due to an internal short in the crt in which case it wouldn't be economically viable getting it fixed.
Call out an engineer for an estimate. :smashin:
