i have two ipod touches that are both faulty - i believe one is water cos kids took into bathroom and then didn't work but of course they didn't drop it in bath  otther one was water damaged down a toilet but i got it working again only for my son to say dropped in puddle and it stopped working again and haven't been able to get it to work. can these be repaired and does anyone know of a good repairer who might give me quote first. seems shame to waste them if can be sorted and to expensive to buy another. thanks for any help.
just to say absolutely no response from either when you plug them.:)

Water damaged gadgets should be taken apart and put in a place in the open to dry or as i have done previously put my phone in the middle of abox filled with rice which helped suck the water out. Sounds like you have left your devices for a while now. So any water would have dried up i would have thought. Have you tried charging them with a wall plug? Maybe leave for a few minutes to see if it will charge the battery.

My iPod (4th gen) was left outside over night. It still works but nowq has no sound and the camera lense shows moisture inside it.
Is it repairable and where is the best place to get it repaired? As it still works I assume it doesn't need a massive repair job?
:lease:

concalmum: I think iPod Touch's can be fairly expensive to fix based on the fact that the Flash Drive is part of the Logic Board. So if it's something wrong in one of those parts, I believe you need to replace the whole thing. That's OK (ish!) if it's a lower capacity model, but the 64gb is about the same price as buying a new Touch! (says the guy who dropped his 64gb in a cup of tea )

Also, annoyingly, I think water damage is outwith Apple's standard repair costs. I think they can refuse to repair them and just send them back to you if they're water-damaged.

Urien Rheged: There's quite a lot of places that come up on Google, but why not try the Apple store? They're usually fairly friendly, and might be able to let you know the best way to proceed. My Touch is actually working OK, but I think I'll take it in to the store to see if they can check it out, and maybe give it a spring clean inside!

I submerged it in aborio rice for 24 hours and it fixed it completely!

Result! :D I shook the tea out of mine fairly vigorously and left it switched off for a few days to dry out. It seems fine, but I'm still scared it'll die on me at some point in the future, I'd rather get it checked out. Plus it gives me the excuse to go to the Apple store... :)

yep pretty much, the prices I have linked in my earlier post are in fact Apple charging you for a refurb, as water damaged will be covered by Apple as out of warranty with the applicable fee
