Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problems with the R1 copy of Goldmember? I've had 2 copies both with the same problem, on playback the disc stops after every 5-10 minutes. The first copy was damaged during transit by the disc coming loose & being scratched alot by the clips which holds the dvd in place. So I sent it back to Play.com & they sent me another R1 copy. This time it wasn't damaged but it was doing the same as the first one. This time I've ordered a R2 copy. Hopefully this will be OK. My DVD player is a modified Pioneer 737.
    Cheers, Neil

I heard that goldmember had problems with the inifilm feature on players like Pioneer.

It causes the film to not to play properly and even disabled the pause button.

Can you try it on another make of player.

Too late, I'm afraid. I've already sent it back.
I have other Infinifilms though, they work OK. (13 Days)

It is not a problem with the inifilm feature generally just the one of the Goldmember disc.

The biggest problem with Goldmember is that it isn't funny! :p

Yep. Couldn't play R1 on my 737. Exactly the same symptoms. Got it replaced - same problem. Got it replaced with a R2 copy - no problems. The R1 played OK on my old Pioneer 505, but not on the modded 737. The 'freezing' points are the same points as where the infinifilm break-out points are.

As many long-term DVD owners like me have probably learnt from bad experience, some films (or aspects of them) just don’t play on various players! Can anyone remember the fiasco with the second disc of Gladiator when it was released, and The Matrix before that?

When the DVD’s are being produced, they are often tested to work on most players, its just laziness by the DVD manufacturers when you get errors with discs. A problem I wish was not so common, especially at this stage of DVD technology.
