Fault On Sony Bravia 40WE663

Well I say with some confidence because of my setup. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

My Sony Bravia has updated software

My TV is connected to my router by ethernet cable. So is my Virgin Tivo box.

When I try to watch something on catch up through the TV it buffers constantly but watching the same thing through the tivo box doesn't. I can only assume there is a fault there but happy to be proved wrong. Maybe it's something to do with the tivo box connecting through and HDMI cable and not directly to the ethernet socket?

It's nothing to do with your Tivo box (which should be connected to your TV by HDMI and nothing else).
Try unplugging/switching off your TV at the power socket for 10-15mins then powering on again.
If that doesn’t cure it try rebooting your VM router.
