Are not a large proportion of people clinically obese these days?
Think they may get a lot of takers. But just don't say you are gay.

They shouldn't be accommodated for at all in my opinion. Might sound harsh and I'll probably get flamed but I don't care. Being fat is an epidemic waiting to happen and one day it is going to bite us in the arse because we just accepted it.

Fifas rules are that they accommodate for special needs, which include providing the correct chairs and half price tickets, their rule is also that they act in accordance of the rules of the country, in Brazil being Obese is classed as a special need. These 2 rules acting together give the slightly bizarre outcome of half price tickets for fat people. So it's not like fifa thought I know lets provide half price tickets to the Obese it's just how the rules happen to have interacted in Brazil.

For some people though through no fault of their own are massively Obese and clearly face alot of struggles because of that, I think it's kinda nice to accommodate them, though not with half price tickets.

Being badly disabled myself we get alot of things half price which is not normally because tickets are half price but because if can't go alone and need someone to look after you they get in for free. Thats very nice if someone is coming with you for the express reason of looking after you but it's of course not necessary or really appropriate when you go somewhere with your wife for instance. That said I don't spend my life complaining about the sh*t that comes from being disabled so I certainly won't complain about the few little advantages, especially as in many cases getting disabled tickets is significantly more difficult and more effort than getting able bodied ones.

Would would have to see where the fat-o-meter pendulum falls to see who obese you need to be. Technically, you don't have to be too extreme to be obese.
Not sure it is fair to shoot them (us) on site Desmo (if I take your lack of tolerance to the extreme).

Who said anything about shooting anybody? I just don't think they should be accommodated for. I could be seriously overweight myself. I love my chocolate and junk food as much as most people and I naturally carry fat....I'm no skinny minny. I just choose not to be obese.

Charge them double, and on planes, cinemas and other public events.

And point and laugh at fat people. make it as socially unacceptable to be fat as it is to smoke

And feel free to flame me as well. Its my opinion :)

I don't know about publicly shaming them, but certainly don't give them special dispensation for a lifestyle choice.

    Great idea
Will make a change from having to pay the same for a child size person's seat

Some extra leg room would help too.

Would have no issue with extra leg room for tall people. Its not something you have a choice over

Thin people should also get a discount if they have to sit next to fat, sweaty, smelly people. I've had to do it before and its not pleasant :)

Everyone should get a discount if the person next to you is sweaty and smelly.
No need for it no matter how big you are.

I am obese according to the NHS, I certainly would not require an extra wide seat though...I am still rocking a 34" waste
And NO my belly does not hang over

Would I be able to resell my tickets ? Maybe with a slight markup.....:D

I assume what you mean (correct me if I'm wrong) is that it's rare that there is some sort of physical condition that causes obesity?

Agree with that but I don't believe it's at all rare that obese people have mental/emotional issues that cause them to gain weight through overeating/difficulty in exercising etc, plenty of research supporting that view anyway. e.g. Obesity and Psychiatric Disorders | Psychiatric Times

There are lazy people in the world and those who don't seem to want to help themselves when they no doubt could but simply labelling all fat people "lazy" is almost certainly an over-simplification (and a pretty crass and unpleasant one at that). These things are rarely that simple.

I'm tallish so that helps I suppose.

No idea, but i'm in proportion so I bet it's not far off.
People assume that at 20 stone and a 44" waist you must be like one of those fatties off the tv, that have to be winched out of their house. Far from it, I've been described as medium build :smashin:
