It is my understanding that a Faroudja converter is necessary to up convert video, as used in the Denon 5805.

There is no mention of this in the Denon 4806 (AVC-A11XV) product sheets, so how does it up-convert?

    Hi

Don't confuse two different things. The 5805 has both Video Up-Conversion (e.g S-Video to Component) and Faroudja Video Scaling (e.g 480i to 720p). The 4806 has no Video Scaling but has Video Up-Conversion. The 4806 will also convert Analogue signals to HDMI although the output resolution stays the same as the input resolution. The 5805 will be getting this feature as an upgrade.
