According to dvdcompare.org.uk a Special Edition of Fargo is due for release from MGM sometime mid 2002. I desparately need to replace my worn out VHS copy, but want to wait for this SE version. Have I missed it or has the release been delayed? Anyone heard?

I tried to get hold of Fargo a while back and couldn't find it anywhere. I read on a Coen Brothers fan website that it wasn't released in R1 and the R2 release was withdrawn. I've never seen it in any UK shops.

searching for it on play.com gives a 'Out of Stock' on R1 search and 'release date TBA' for region 2.

Blackstar have some editions Fargo down as deleted now, but they do list a Special Edition expected for the end of September.

I wonder why the likes of Play and cdwow haven't got it listed on their pre-release pages? Never mind, I'll be waiting until they do.

Fargo was released on R1 but it was deleted. I had it on order at FutureEnt a few months back but after a few months they told me it was deleted and cancelled my order. Would've only costed me £10.99 as well :( Don't know what happened to the R2. It's been on play.com as TBA since as long as I remember.

Apparently an SE is in the works though, but I haven't seen a date mentioned yet (apart from on dvdcompare). MGM **** me right off though - they better make sure it's an anamorphic release (unlike Kalifornia R1)

Need to replace my VHS copy too - it's not even in widescreen, just 1.33:1 P&S

'Enhanced for widescreen TVs' = anamorphic. I have the R1 Fargo and I can confirm that it definitely is anamorphic at 1.85:1, which is the intended ratio.

Hope they do something with the audio in the SE edition - I have an original R1 copy of Fargo, which has only stereo sound. Fabulous film though!

I know it's Dolby 2.0 but I could have sworn it has a PL encoded surround channel.

Sammy Jankis? Ahh... the best film of the last few years IMHO!

In R1-land the second re-release from MGM featured a DD5.1 soundtrack, unlike the initial re-release from MGM that was, like the original PolyGram release, DD2.0.
