Bit like the newest SW trilogy. These movies feel increasingly reactive to me. The reaction to the first one, which lets face it should have just been a one off novelty movie wasn't great, so Rowling felt the need to add a whole load of Potter call-backs to it. Now the focus is basically just Dumbledore with previous main character Newt relegated to the side-lines.
It's almost as if she has absolutely no idea where to take the story and is just winging it.

Not sure that shows anything. You say that & I’m inclined to agree. However you just have to look at that Oscar win for Justice League to see that there is some influence there.
The synder fans outweigh them. Not sure that shows anything.
Wasn’t the Oscar ‘win’ for ‘most cheer-worthy moment’ for - The Flash entering the Speed Force?
ie a scene with an actor that allegedly choked a fan, & the ‘Twittering masses’ have also tried to cancel?
Seen this film tonight. Very enjoyable. Dumbledore was always going to be a main character, can't see the problem. Not as enjoyable as the potter movies but very good in its own right. 7/10 for me.
I think Dumbledore was always going to be a main character. We knew from the very start that the Fantastic Beasts films would revolve around Grendelwald as the main antagonist. You think so? He wasn't even in the first one.
The way I see it Newt was intended to be the lead but audience feedback wasn't good so Rowling changed direction. Not too dissimilar from how Lucas almost entirely wrote JarJar Binks out of the second and third prequels rather than making him the Chewbacca stand-in he was intended to be.
Quite how Rowling mis-read her audience so badly is a bit of a mystery though.
There are no books this time around. (other than a literal guide to fantastic beasts). Rowling went straight to the screenplay stage. There is still two films yet planned as part of a five film franchise/story. So, this was never a film made on the fly, it's storyline is, you'd assume, as intended. Presumably based on books?
I wasn't particularly enamoured with the second, but I have no doubt the little people in the family will force me to watch this, I just won't be buying it on disc.
I know man, what sticks have they got up their butts……..?????What is it with AVF reviewers being such downers on mainstream movies. I saw this with friends yesterday and we all thoroughly enjoyed it Easy 8/10 for me!
