Saw it at the pictures a couple of weeks ago. Not bad at all. Not the best film ever made but certainly very watchable. Clearly set up for future sequels!

    Hi,

All the previews and reviews of it, have pretty much slated this film. Mediocre acting; no real action sequences; too much time spent on introducing us to the characters and how they came to get their super-powers, etc, etc.

I think this is going to fail dramatically. I have to confess, that the cast seem too young for the roles they're playing. I mean Sue and Reed Richards, are about in the mid-to-late thirties in the comic books and animations, not in the mid-twenties!

I was kinda looking forward to this, although the bad reviews have lowered my expectations they were never that high to begin with, the trailer didnt particularly get me excited.

Seems to me that if it were made 5 years ago, it probably would have had a better reception but with the likes of Spidey 2, X Men 2 and Batman Begins showing how good and intelligent a Comic Adaption can be, this has been slated in comparison.

Still could be enjoyable, but dont think i will hold my breath! Shame, it could be a great franchise if sone properly.

Rottentomatoes.com has averaged it at 23%. Most reviews saying it's thoroughly rotten. Shame, I was looking forward to this too.

Sometimes, a movie that gets slated is quite enjoyable. As my sister keeps telling me about the vanilla ice movie years ago, she really likes it.!

Suppose have to see it to decide with F4.

The trailer doesn't even get me excited about the film, which makes me think it's going to be poor.

Yeah, but then I deluded myself about Blade, X-Men, Spiderman and Sin City too. And they all proved a pleasant surprise...

Well its not horrendously bad - its worth the ticket price just to see Jessica Alba in here underwear.

Most of the "plot" and i do use the term advisadly is taken up with their origin story with only a small part of the movie actually having them fighting Doom. And the ending was quite frankly pants. (and ive never seen a more blantant trailer for the next in the series at the end of a movie)

All in all 2 hours of mindless semi-enjoyment (appart from those bloody kids making all that noise in the theatre)

Id give it 3ish out of 5

I had the day of work today. I had a choice. Stay in bed and relax. Watch some dvds and play some games , or go to see fantastic 4 which is what I have been considering doing.

I stayed in bed while watching some DVDs. :D

When I read Peter Bradshaw's four stars-out-of-five review in The Guardian this morning (Batman Begins got three, by comparison), I nearly dropped my bacon sandwich.

He hates anything that even looks slightly entertaining, so God only knows how bad Fantastic Four must be.

I'm still not convinced that his review wasn't an elaborate practical joke....

Well that makes a lot of sense, you hate the film but you haven't seen it???

Don't really pay any attention to what so called 'critics' say about a film. In one magazine you have the film given 4 out of 5, then in another 1 out of 5 etc. If it looks OK from the trailer I always want to make my own mind up and go see it myself.

But regardless of the reviews of this film, just seeing Jessica Alba in her underwear is enough for me!

It was ok I thought. And yes it's worth seeing for Jessica Alba full stop...the underwear does help ;)

Isn't the greatest film ever, but certainly not the worst.

Is an ok film, and worth a night out if bored.

I was in New Zealand. Assumed it was already out here until I saw this post. As I said, didn't think it was that bad. Certainly not as bad as some of those reviews would indicate!

Saw it this morning, by accident (we were planning to see "Episode 3" again, but the projector in that screen was throwing a sickie) and ....it isn't that bad.

It's lighter than most of the recent superhero flicks, and very definately geared towards an audience much younger than those of us raving about the likes of "Sin City".

The action's OK, but won't knock you sideways, and the oft-lamented special effects don't do anything overtly to call attention to themselves - I don't want to use the word 'subtle', because this film certainly isn't full of nuances, but the FX are not bad, they just don't take your breath away.

Performances are fine - though Julian McMahon would be better off if his Victor Von Doom had an actual moustache to twirl, rather than the invisible one he seems to be toying with in several scenes.

And, yes, there is a wholly gratuitous 'Jessica Alba in her pants' scene (which is, needless to say, No Bad Thing). :smashin:

There's some nice bass in the Space station sequence and during the obligatory showdown at the climax, too, if your cinema's sub is working (there's a first time for everything, after all).

Good surround, Jessica Alba and a none-too-lengthy running time make this worthy of a look. Not "Spider-Man 2" then, but nowhere near as wretched as "Elektra", either.
