I met the sexiest man alive...

    Gary Neville

Also Suzanne Shaw from hearsay was at my school, as was Lisa riley and Fizz from Corrie.

I also met howard from the halifax adverts he was doing some promo thing at our local branch... he is suprisingly tall in real life (about 6'5 or 6'6)

Roisin of the band Moloko on a flight to Lisbon

Jayne Middlemass - at a TOTP recording about 8 or 9 years ago

Paul Foot, late Mirror/Guardian/Private Eye investigative journalist - at an SWP meeting in my student days

Therapy? - Belfast band who did quite well 1993-96 - at a gig in Leicester followed by a few beers at the bar

Prof Alec Jeffries, the "father" of DNA fingerprinting - worked just down the corridor from his lab in Leicester University biochemistry dept

Princess Anne - school visits in 1976 and 1990

i've met quite a few such as the following

prince (umpteen times plus most band members past and present)
paul mccartney (and band. not the really famous one tho)
    robbie williams (and band)
    jeff lynn
    george benson (and band)
    chaka khan
    george clinton
larry graham (and half of sly and the family stone)
    maceo parker (plus band)
    doug e fresh
    david byrne
    orbital
    big audio dynamite
    adamski
    skunk anansie
    beverley knight
    candy dulfer
    eryka badu
    common
    the time

    cast
    transvision vamp
    supergrass
    thompson twins
    donnie munro (runrig)
    dan ackroyd
    johnny vegas
    greg proops
    frankie detori
jim rose (and the guys/gals in the circus)
    chris moyles
    donna air
    melanie sykes
kevin saunderson (dj/producer of inner city etc)
    dave angel (dj)
    justin robertson (dj/lionrock)
    mr c (the shamen)
    chesney hawkes

thats by no means complete, plenty of musicians, a few tv presenters, dj's, comedians, even sports folks. i've met plenty more, but those were some of the more memorable ones. some of the crapper folk on the list were more memorable than others due to various reasons. i won't go too far into exactly how i met some of them, but certainly a few interesting stories can be told. i don't like sport so i can't remember half the sporting people i met, i just remember frankie detori as i was drunk after a tv show and got confused with frankie valli who sang grease and december 69 (oh what a night). :D

i don't work in tv, i just have good contacts and i'm prepared to get up and go places at the drop of a hat. i used to work in record stores and a nightclub, thus meeting dj's and folks like that. i met a few at tv shows and recording studios or in clubs or stores (dan ackroyd was in front of me in a line in a record store i used to work for, he payed by gold amex and only then did the sales guy realise who he was). similar story with david byrne, i was selling him a couple of things i probably shouldn't say what they were, he just had 501s and a biker jacket (typical 80s look) and i didn't realise who he was until the amex came out. the rest of the story since then is even funnier, and so bizarre most people probably wouldn't believe it. thats a common theme with many incidents, would you believe it if i told you i saw minority report in a cinema with prince at 2am in minneapolis (he rented the place after it closed)? or i was chatting up melanie sykes after tfi friday (we were both legless)? or how about chesney hawkes helping me wind up a mate and then get a date with a gorgeous girl by pretending he was my friend (when he was at number 1)? when i worked in stores i would regularly chat to certain people for ages and the staff would then ask how i knew them, to which i would say i didn't know them, and be told it was someone famous (orbital bought a huge pile of records from me once, i still wouldn't recognise them now)

    Jeremy Paxman

    Lionel Blair

    Les Dennis

Charlotte Coleman (God rest her soul - passed her on the street)

    Andy Kershaw

    John Redwood MP

Patrick Stewart (done two TV ads with him)

Alan Titchmarsh (another I've passed on the street - he lives round my way, and Shadowifey's dad used to be his postman!)

My best mate once got a kiss off Fern Britton at Bournemouth Air Show in the 80s, when she was just a newsreader on TVS; and one of my ex's was once propositioned in a Jersey hotel by Oliver Reed. He sent champagne to her breakfast table before going over to chat her up.

Not many compared to everyone here, but.........

    Tom Baker
    Eddie Izzard
    George Takei
    Jennifer Tilly
    Stephen King

Not that it counts, but almost had a phone coversation with Angelina Jolie (damn international connections! damn them all to hell!)

Also literally been face to face with Victoria Beckham - although at the time I thought it was just some ugly Essex bird, and technically speaking, I was totally right.

I met Richard Whiteley once when we played live at YTV's telethon in the 90s when Leeds won the cup.
And I bumped into Joe Elliot of Def Leppard on the way out of a bank on West Street in Sheffield. He didn't have time for a beer.
Oh and shared a dressing room with the Guy from the Jewson advert who was in Emmerdale recently. He was doing a comedy slot in a social club in Yorkshire and was unhappy with how he went down. I was unhappy at seeing him in his pants.

    I suppose I could make a few up - you'd never know :)

The one's that stand out are Steve Jobs, Bill Gates (through work), Norman Tebbit, Arthur Scargil, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathleen Turner, Kirsty Alley and Whoopi Goldberg.

One of the best days of my life however was getting drunk with Richard Harris while on holiday in the Caribbean - the guy was amazing GBHS.

Trevor Brooking - He was a former pupil at my high school.
Alan Curbishley - He came to play at a century match at my school, left 75mins in so he doesn't get rushed by people in the school.
Joe Cole Jnr - Was at the century match, wathcing not playing

    Can't remember anymore :)

    Mr. R2D2 (Kenny Baker)
He was doing a signing session. Cheating i know but thats about it. Seemed a decent enough chap tho.

Oh and I reguarly see Dickie Bird (ex-cricket umpire) and Steve Lodge(ex premiership ref) in my town. Dickie is a top bloke and is always happy to speak to you a couple of mins.

However my Uncle met Michael Caine while he was filming 'Little Voice' in Scarbrough and signed his cast on his arm.

    Hi,

I've met (in no order of preference!):

    - Christopher Eccleston when I used to live in Manchester. (He was in Waterstones at the time.)

    - James Marsters (Spike from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", at an autograph signing)

    - Amber Benson (Tara from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", at a second, different, autograph signing)

    - Andrew Robinson (from "Hellraiser" and "Star Trek: Deep Space 9")

    - Chase Masterson (also from "Deep Space 9")

    - Nicole de Boer (from "Deep Space 9" and the movie "Cube")

    - Cast members Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Megan Burns, producer Andrew MacDonald and director Danny Boyle, (from a special "28 Days Later..." promo event in Manchester).

    - Richard Griffiths (played Chef/Detective Henry Crabbe in the BBC1 show "Pie In The Sky". He's also been in Harry Potter movies, too.)

    - Suzanne Dando (at a gymnastics event many, many years ago)

    - Bonnie Langford

    - Anime guru/authoress, Helen McCarthy

    - Victoria Wood

    - several football players whose names meant nothing to me, at the time, because I was only about 8 years old, and hated football. (I think the autographs were more for my dad's benefit, than mine!)
