    Heyhey all

Don't suppose any of you know if Family Guy is still going or was it cancelled?

If not, I might as well get the boxset for £20 (only seen this in HMV)

Or is the Region 1 with the extras the one to go for?

It has been cancelled. There's rumour of Seth Mcfarlane creating another cartoon series but Fox in it's wisdom cancelled Family Guy - which in my view is far better than the latest Simpsons.
Lot's of people are still trying to persuade Fox though !

The above link is a good starting point for all things FG related (including forums)

The recent DVD releases of Family Guy have been extremely successful (I believe selling as much as or more than The Simpsons).

Seth MacFarlane has stated that because of this, if Family Guy were to be brought back it would be a straight to DVD release.

I think there is an interview with him at http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ which refers to this.

All 50 episodes are out in UK (101cd have a good price).
The final 21 (or so) do not come out in the US 'til November.
Apparently the extras are not great and have been severely edited.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm Family Guy!!!

Love it, miles better than the Simpsons IMHO, and this is down to Sky One showing the same 20 episodes of the Simpsons again and again and again!

Family Guys William Shatner is class!!

'dad, what would you say if I wanted to leave the boy scouts?'

'I would say come again, and them laugh as I said come!'

Family Guy is genius. I'm two thirds of the way through the season three box set and Quagmire is my new hero.

"are you a parking ticket, 'cause you've got fine written all over you"

"excuse me ladies I dont want to come between you, or do I?"

    Aaaalllllriiight!

Caught it very now and again on TV. Saw the first season going cheap on DVD so I've taken a chance on it. Only seen the first episode so far which was ok. I think it'll get better as I get into it.

    Cheers

Knew there was an other thread on Family Guy to merge with but never thought it was so old.

One of the funniest cartoon out there and far me far funnier than The Simpsons.

You may want to look out Lisa for there's an other series by the same people called American Dad although I do not find it as funny it is stilll quite good.;)

By the way Brian's my favorite too.

Thanks for that.. Last night was sad when (forgive me do not know all the characters yet) The Daughter announced to her care bears "she was a lesbian" They were so shocked they all left home and one got run over a'r .... Love my care bears sniff. Still funny though .. Thought the way they took the we we out of UK was quite funny too.

The joke there is that Meg is so annoying even her cuddly toys try to get away from here but the Care Bear is so guilty it commits suicide. Evil genius!

One of my favourite things about Family Guy is the little sketches they throw in. They don't seem to do it as often in the later series but it was a major feature of the show at the start. This is one of my favourites, Edison harrnesses the power of electricity

Sad to see that even Seth and the Family Guy crew have been to the same "Dick Van Dyke school of the English accent" that all Americans seem to have attended !

    I love this program:D

Have the recent series done well enough for it to keep running? Or is there any danger it may be cancelled again :(

I was like that after watching the first few episodes when Family Guy was cancelled. However, going back to it and watching all the series you realise that it just as funny/offensive, just a tad different.

I'm now on the lookout for something else thats similar as theyve both finished. Any ideas?

I have to say that I'm not as impressed with this 5th season as I was with the first four. I'm noticing more jokes that aren't working and in the last two series I've observed that they seem to try to milk some of the jokes a bit too long. Even when it's a corker it feels stretched but when a joke falls flat it's just awful sitting there waiting for them to move on. I can't say I ever noticed this during the first three seasons. Has anyone else noticed this?

Also is it me or are they over-indulging on the Star Wars nods ?

Have to agree with you there - its been a while since I watched the last series but a number of the jokes fell flat or just went on for way to long (the one where Peter hurts his knee and goes "aaaahhhhhhhh" for about five minutes was tedious) - Its still very funny but not quite as funny as it used to be (having said that its still funnier that most everything else on telly)

I think those drawn out jokes are deliberately trying to annoy you by being dragged out till they become uncomfortable. Like when Stewie goes on about Brians book.

I do sometimes feel sorry for Meg though. Looking forward to S6 DVD box set to complete the set :)
