Falling Down - Help!

updated my JB'd iP4 4.1 with a mobile substrate package update from Cydia (Saurik) today, when it asked me to "Reboot Device" I did! now it won't restart.

I just get the apple logo and the spinning wheel, I've tried a hard reset (hold power + home buttons) - doesn't work, same screen appears and I can't get it into recovery mode.

your help or suggestions needed.

Update: got it into recovery mode.

can anybody tell me how long it takes to get the recovery info from apple's or cydia's server?
